I don't think that's ever going to happen. Just like other programs don't transfer back to MRs or URs.

This is LONG overdue in my opinion even if Citi and AA doesn't think so. Like you, I hope this sticks around for a while. Depending on the time it takes for transfer it can really but decent when you're in a bad spot and need to take a last minute flight in a hurry.

Even more so because AA seems to be drying up saver space that partners once had access to and making lots of things Web Specials that requires their AAdvantage currency.

Here's to hoping that this temporary chance becomes a permanent one.

AA and JetBlue announced a while back that they're forming an "alliance" involving code sharing and, eventually, reciprocal frequent flyer mile redemption. If/when that happens, redeeming thank you points for AA flights will be a fait accompli, assuming Citi keeps JetBlue as a transfer partner for TY points.

I'm going to send a few TYPs to my AA account just to test how long it takes to transfer. I've been able to find a pretty decent value for domestic travel with their web specials, like 5k one ways. AA miles ~~aren't~~ weren't that easy to earn with their co-brands only. Now, the worst you can do is 2x with the Citi DC and up to 5x with Prestige. I really hope Citi and AA can work it out in the next several months so the partnership becomes permanent. *crossing fingers and toes*

ZERO.

This is new. TYPs didn't transfer to AA before.

I don't think anyone knows exactly how that's going to work or the value at which TrueBlue points will be redeemable for AA flights. I honestly don't have much faith this will be favorable. It looks more like another future devaluation of AA currency.

Turn the clock back a year ago and I would have been a lot more excited about this announcement. I'm still happy to see that Citi added AA (even if temporary) as a transfer partner.

However, with Chase Pay Yourself Back, AA miles aren't as meaningful to me as they once were. I only use AA miles for domestic travel and rarely can I get more than 1.5cpp so right now, most of my AA booking are obtaining via Pay Yourself Back which allows me to book as a rev pax, earn towards status, earn UR points on the actual spend of the ticket, and I'm not locking into AAdvantage.

Should PYB go away this option will be back in play for me.
