How many Capital One Cards?

I'm actually asking this for my daughter. Currently she has a Capital One Quick Silver and a Walmart MC. She has a 3000 limit on both, the Walmart Card has a zero balance, whereas the QS has a 325 balance. Today she logged in and received the following message

With how she spends and the rewards given, this card is a better fit for her than the QS.

How many cards does Cap One allow I thought it was only 2. I seem to remember reading somewhere that co-branded cards don't count against the rule, if it still exists. Thoughts?

I believe it's two "starter" cards and two core non-starter cards. No idea on cobranded cards

She should be able to apply without issues.

I've had SavorOne offer for a while now, 0% apr for 9 months, no sub, apr in mid 20s. Every time it reaches "apply by" date, they remove it, then put it back with new date, so if she needs to think about it, that should be fine, too.

I don't know if anyone figured out exactly and definitively what the limits are nowadays.

I had understood 2 x core cards, not including cards converted via acquisition (like the old HSBC portfolio) or co-branded cards like the Walmart or Cabela's cards, no official limit on cobranded cards. In either case there wouldn't be a problem here.

Not to add to the confusion, but I was under the impression one could have 2 "starter" cards and a total of 5 cards with Captial One.

As a side note, I love my Savor One, with the addition of the 3% grocery category. I think it's one of the better no annual fee cash back cards on the market.

I had two Quicksilver cards (one Visa, one MC), and my Walmart Rewards card got transferred to Capital One, making a total of three cards. Last year, I clicked on an offer they showed me (I do not recall its details)--and to my surprise it came back right away with "denied, too many Capital One cards." Alrighty, then. *shrug* So I don't know if that's a hard and fast rule, but in my case the limit appears to be three.

I'm interested in the Savor as well, but I have the QuickSilver and the Venture and I'm wondering if I need to close one.

This up here ☝is what I've read quite a few times here on myFICO.

2 starter cards only but a total of 5 cards was allowed.

Two starter cards and five cards total. The information is in the terms and conditions that people occasionally read before applying. Co-branded and retail cards don't count against these limits.

The Venture "one", Quicksilver "one", Savor "one" cards I believe are the starter/easier cards with Cap 1. I have a reg QuickSilver with a 0% APR and 2% CB right now.

Hmmmm... Well, I don't have any "one" cards, just plain old Capital One Quicksilver (Visa and MC). Those were the first and only cards I had with Cap1 until my WM Rewards MC got transferred there. So I'm scratching my head at the comment about a total of five cards allowed, while I only have three.

Thanks. I don't have, and never did have, any of those. Just two regular Quicksilver cards and then WM Rewards MC. But if you saw my post upthread, you'll see that when I clicked on an offer last year, it immediately denied me saying I had "too many Capital One cards." So I'm baffled by the 'five card' limit thing.

Do you have any special offer to get 2% cashback? The Quicksilver has a flat 1.5% cashback in general.
