I really want the Amex green card . Does any one have data points , will Amex approve a credit profile that still has a negative charge off from 2015? I've heard the Amex Delta Gold has pretty loose underwriting but how about the green card since it's the lowest tier charge card?

Have you tried the pre-approval site? Is your charge off paid? What is your AAoA?

I was pre-approved for all of their personal charge cards until my new Freedom Flex reported a week ago.

I've got a paid charge off and collection from 2016 and 2017 respectively, yet they seemed willing to approve me for the Green card.

The Amex Co Branded Cards are easier to get, I was approved for the Amex Delta Gold with a 650 fico score, 1 collection on file, 1 late payment, and only about a year of credit history, only 1k SL so it sucked it the begining.

You can check the AMEX prequal page and see if anything comes up. No guarantees. But they are pretty solid.

The charge cards are a bit easier tier to qualify for. Co-branded, charge and then the core credit cards. You can search for data points on here. What does your overall profile look like? FICO scores? AMEX typically pulls EX 8 but anything is possible.

I was approved for the green last year with an EX score of around 685 i think. At the time i only had a QS with $2500 limit (about 6 years old) and 4 student loan lates (from 4 years ago). so overall extremely thin file and still got it.

The underwriting for both of these cards is similar.

Are you targeting the Green card because you think it's a good match for your spend or are you targeting it because you've heard it is the easiest, or one of the easiest, AMEX cards to get?

AMEX does have certain immutable disqualifiers for approval like a recent BK reporting but a CO reporting isn't one of them. We've had multiple members here over the last few years report successes with both paid and unpaid chargeoffs that aren't as old as yours is.

Like the above users have said, use the prequalification tool and see where you end up. I prequalified for almost all the cards, and ended up applying and being approved for the BCP card this month with a 681 EX with a closed collection from 2019 and a fairly thin file. Most people have success with the prequal tool FWIW.

Well I got approved for my first Amex with a 5 plus year old BK on my credit. They started me out with 1K. That was in 2018 I believe. Then I got my first charge cards right after my BK fell off but I do have a 2 year old medical paid collection on my report. That collection was less than 100 bucks but I paid it off but still sits on my credit. My scores when I got my first Amex was around 660-670 mark. For the other ones I was in the low 700's. I do have other credit cards when I applied. Also had a mortgage including a car loan.

Have you tried to have it removed @Anonymous? I thought I recently read somewhere that a medical collection is supposed to be removed once paid. If not all medical collections, then ones that were under $100. Might warrant a bit of research.

No I hadn't heard about that. Can you point me in the right direction to find out how to do it?

Just an update , I Applied for the AMEX Delta Gold an was Aprroved for $1000 SL. EX Fico of 626 2 unpaid chargeoffs . So Amex Is very generous with the underwriting
