$10 cashback at CVS using PayPal or Venmo

I wasn't sure where to post this or if someone had already posted about it, but I saw on DoC, and then PayPal, that you can earn $10 cashback for the first purchase at CVS using PayPal or Venmo. There are obviously criteria that have to be met so check PayPal or Venmo before attempting to do this.

DoC suggested to buy a $20 gift card to get the $10 credit, but the offer in PayPal specifically lists it as an exclusion. Does anyone have any experience purchasing a gift card for this or a similar PayPal or CVS offer?

In the past many people reported problems paying with Paypal/Venmo in-store which might be why there aren't more data points.

I'm not sure if the issue was training/staff related or POS/technical, but it wasn't a one-off by any means. Hopefully those issues have been resolved.

I thought I would follow up since I finally made it to a CVS. I spent $27 and some change and had a $10 credit in my PayPal account by the time I got home. Not a bad ROI even if it was only $10.
