I have alot of credit cards, I mean alot, but for some reason Citi never liked my credit profile. Maybe it was all of my cc accounts, who knows. Anyway last October I was determined to join the Citi family, if it was thru a secured card so be it. I appled for the Citi Diamond secured card and put down a $2500 secured collateral deposit. Fast forward to today which is 10 months since having the Citi diamond secured card and I got a letter in the mail from Citi they had early graduated my card!! The letter said I would be getting my deposit back and getting a Citi Diamond Preffered card. Before applying for this card I read horrible reviews that Citi wound find reasons not to graduate there secured cards and especially hardly ever early. I have had the card for 10 months, all I did was put my Netflix $17.99 charge on each month and paid it in full. Citi rewarded me for keeping my account in good standing. I just wanted to let anyone know who is starting there credit journey, rebuilding credit, or maybe like me who just wanted to join the Citi family, this is a great card to start with. Citi will reward you with early graduation as long as u do your part and keep your account in good standing. I hope to PC the Citi Diamond Preferred to Custom Cash when I receive the Diamond Preferred Card. Hope this post helps some people who are thinking about applying for Citi Diamond secured card, Early Graduation is Definately Possible!!!!

Huge congrats!

And be sure to have some patience - it sometimes (usually) takes a bit of time for Citi to get the graduation sorted out (converting the account from Diamond to Diamond Preferred, mailing out the card, etc). You might need to wait a bit for any product changes, as Citi is pretty slow with them as well.

Good luck on the PC, and congrats again I had no problems with my Citi Secured card, either, and have also had no problems with them. I have wondered if they're more lenient to those who go for higher secure limits wrt graduation.

Wow, so maybe alot of those reviews I read were correct about Ciiti not wanting to graduate customers. I have to agree thats some BS with your utilization, and your overall credit amount. Maybe I am starting to think I was just one of the lucky ones with Citi graduation in general. Hope the next time around brings you better results after you reapply. Also BTW loved the, "Homie dont play that reference" I still record and watch In Living Color reruns.

It is an honest, decent secured card, and I like Citi in general. However, I wouldn't make as broad a statement as what I quoted here. There are many, many people on this board who "do their part and keep their account in good standing" who do not graduate early; in fact, many graduate late, or never. I would actually not recommend getting this card based on the idea that it will graduate, because DPs are all over the map with it, and by the time it might graduate, you could probably just get an unsecured Citi card. That is what I did. About a year after opening the secured card, I had closed it, and opened two unsecured Citi cards with CLs of $9500 and $11000 respectively. JMO. Again, congrats!

This happend to me last month to 13 months after I applied. I used the card sometimes but also had a bill on it every month. My inquries are a joke that's why I can't get a cli need to garden for a year and then get one. Citi isn't horrible I've always found their customer service to be good. I was 0/12 at the time.

I don't expect to graduate at my 18 month mark in October. My recent inquiries are LOL....yikes.
