Cap 1: Upgrade from QS to World Mastercard?

I just received a letter in the mail telling me that my QS has been upgraded to World Mastercard. I can't find anything on that particular card when I search their card lineup. Per the letter, my CL, APR, billing cycle and due date remain the same.

Can someone please tell me what card I have now?

Was your QS a Platinum level card before?

It is likely that Capital One has upgraded your card from Platinum to World. There are some small benefits to the upgrade, but few people use them. The upgrade benefits Capital One more as merchants typically pay a higher "swipe" fee the higher level the card: mastercard > gold mastercard > platinum mastercard > world mastercard > world elite mastercard.

They quietly upgraded my world to a world elite last year, but I did not receive notice.

So, in closing, you should have a Quicksilver World Mastercard.

You still have a Quicksilver card. It's just the level of MasterCard that was upgraded. Honestly, though, I'm not aware of any meaningful difference there.

Actually, the letter says they're sending a new card...and supposedly, there are different rewards and benefits.

There are a bunch of extra benifits going from a standard MC to a World, then a couple of more at Elite. Going to World status is a good thing.

A good World Card is the only thing I'm looking for.

How do you define "good"?

If you just want a World/World Elite MC for the Lyft rewards or ShopRunner membership (for instance), and are primarily looking to maximize cashback, the Citi DC is a World Elite MC with $0 AF and 2% back across the board.

If you're looking for cashback plus the "traditional" World/World Elite MC benefits like extended warranty, rental car coverage, trip cancellation coverage, etc., consider the Citizens Bank Cash Back Plus, which is a World MC with $0 AF, 1.8% back across the board, and all of the aforementioned benefits (plus $0 FTF).

There are other ways to define "good," too, of course. For instance, some would define "good" as a premium card with a high AF with premium benefits/rewards. Others might be looking for a card with rotating 4+% cashback, or high cashback in specific categories. A few credit unions, for instance, offer co-branded Elan Max Cash cards (two 5% back categories) as MasterCards (most Elan Max Cash cards are issued as Visas). The Citi Custom Cash is also a MasterCard (5% back in a single category, but the categories are a bit broader and different from the Max Cash 5% back categories - for instance, Max Cash splits up restaurants into a 5% back category and a 2% back category, whereas Citi CC lumps all standalone restaurants together).

I don't know the difference and never have read up on the differences. My May statement said platinum MasterCard. My June and July statement say world MasterCard. Got the same notice in the mail today. We've been upgraded. Perhaps they wanted a new card to go with it for these said benefits. I know the info I received within the letter mentioned rental car and some travel benefits.
