Good evening!

So, I have looked in the forums about this topic and see several rather longer, detailed threads. But.....they are from 2016. Five years ago. I ask today just to take away the "dude, I should have asked as the details that I found were five years old at the time..." concern.

So, quick story: I have the Capital One Platinum Master Card. I have a $3,000 Starting Credit Limit and I have this card since July 4, 2021. So, 2.5 months as of today. I put about $400 - $500 spend on it each billing cycle and I use it both for on-line as well as for 'swipe' transactions.

My goal is to Product Change this to the QuickSilver in late January, 2022. Assuming, of course, that it is available to me to do. I would also like to make a Credit Line Increase request.

Please forgive me if I missed some recent thread about this topic. I did look! :-)

Questions:

1. Generally speaking, does my plan seem sound? Yes, every credit profile is different so what works for you might not work for me. But does this plan pass the smell test?

2. Is there any better pecking order? I plan to request the PC and then the CLI. All things being equal, is requesting the CLI first and then doing the PC a better idea? Or, am I overthinking this?

3. If there is no "Update Available" in my Capital One account, does that - generally speaking - mean that neither a PC nor a CLI is likely? I do not have a lot of experience with this sort of thing with Capital One (which is to say that I have ZERO experience).

Thanks!

So I did get the upgrade to quicksilver, took about 6 months? No clue on the order to do it in as cap1 has been stingy on CLI for me until this last month.

Good luck

Well my experience is I had a Platinum and product changed to the Quicksilver. Then about 2 months later I asked for a CLI and it was denied. The reason was the account was too new. I think I got that denial because of the product change because based on the Platinum I had been with Capital One for a year.

I am not an expert by any means. In my opinion if your main purpose is the product change then I would do that first because Captial One is known for not being generous with the credit line increases. There are a lot of threads on the forum about Capital One credit line increases and timelines. You can use the search function and there is a lot of info out there. Hopefully one of the credit gurus on here can chime in give you more definite info than I can. Good luck whichever way u decide to proceed. 😊

Even though I paid off my card every month and was in great standing with Capital One, they kept denying me my product change. I ended up finding out on this website that if I went into my account on my computer and putting in /productupgrade or something like that, that I would get the upgrade. Of course that didn't even work as well until I decided to go into incognito then it worked smh. I got a CLI automatically about 2 weeks after that. A CLI was also denied to me numerous times by them.

I would try for the product change first if I were you. Might as well get rewarded for spending with them.

My wife just product changed both of her Capital One Platinum cards recently to QuickSilver cards. (I still have no clue how she applied for 2 CapOne Platinum cards without realizing it...) Right before the PC she requested a CLI on both cards as well. There was no PC offer in the CapOne app, but she called and the CSR quickly upgraded both accounts.
