Are there services that dispute transactions for you other than the bank I am in service with?

I need to dispute a charge that is over 3k. I really want to make sure it gets disputed considered the charge is incorrect. Are there services that have people fight the dispute to get a successful charge back.

They're any no service to my knowledge to help you dispute a transaction and don't pay anyone to help you dispute a transaction most banks offer $0 liability meaning you won't have to pay for any fraudulent transactions. In most cases you can dispute on line but if not just call the number on the back of your card. What bank do you have?

No, you need to dispute the charge yourself with the bank online, by phone or by letter mailed to the address on your statement.

In most cases the bank itself will conduct an investigation if you report the transaction as fraudulent. I know in my case it happened a few times years ago and capital one investigated it found me not liable for the charges and issued a new card/acct number.

And I think dispute has to be within 60 days of the transaction, although this may vary by bank.

I am banking with Wells Fargo. I just made the transcation around last night. I did not dispute it yet but am about to. Will that impact the claim.

In my opinion i see no reason a claim of a fraudulent charge will affect anything. In todays world of identity theft these type claims are commonplace. If i were you i wouldnt hesitate.

Was this specific transaction made by you? Did the merchant or vendor process the transaction incorrectly?

The outcome will largely depend on your claim and where the alleged error occurred.

This feels like cloak and dagger, so if you don't mind, can you answer some questions so we can respond accurately?

*Why are you disputing the claim?

*Did you "not" receive the product or service? Or if you did receive it, was it damaged or not as described?

*Is the amount of the transaction incorrect?

*Have you spoken to or asked merchant/vendor for a refund? If no, this should be your first step in case it's just a misunderstanding.

Also, please note that a "pending" transaction cannot be disputed. Once it has "posted," however, you can file a dispute.

I don't want a new card. I want to continue using the card I'm using. I think constantly changing cards is annoying. Is selecting another dispute option going to change the outcome of me getting a charge back.

Quite honestly, I have yet to hear a valid reason for a disputed charge; can you provide us some more info on exactly what was charged and why you think it should be disputed?

If the dispute is not fraud you might have a tough time. i know someone who took up a fight with synchrony because clothing items they charged didnt fit and the said person was holding back paying synchrony for those items, it didnt end well for the person. your dispute might be with the retailer and the cc company will ask you some questions about this and probably ask you what you did vs the retailer.

At this point, it sounds like grasping for straws just to get the chargeback to 'work'. Something to keep in mind, if you select different reasons for whatever the underlying premise of the questionable transaction might be, not only will that delay the processing of your claim, but also place your 'dispute/claim' in the frivolous territory -- just FYI.

What does bolded statement mean? Have you disputed charges before on the same card?

Also, to answer your question, the disputed reason should be the one that is true to your specific case. And, you can add any documentation to your dispute for clarification.

None of us here can tell you "what reason" or the "best reason" to select.

After reading this thread, something isn't passing the smell test.

If there was actual FRAUD on your card, getting a new account number is a standard, required part of the process. Every account I ever had fraud on was immediately shut down, and I was sent a new card with a new number.

If you bought something and it didn't live up to your expectations, whether it's returnable/refundable depends on the terms you agreed to when you bought it. If you have a legitimate problem, the merchant who sold it to you is the responsible party. If and only if you contacted them, had a valid complaint, and they failed to resolve it, then you can proceed to having the bank reverse the charge. I'm 60+ and have yet to need to do that! Every purchase I've ever made that was flawed or inferior or broken, I resolved by simply contacting the merchant.

I did make the transaction. I thought you could still dispute a charge that you made. You can somewhat say the purchase itself is incorrect. I made a dispute claim on 08/31/21 and it's still not closed. It was appaently updated on 09/03/21 but is still open. That being said it took over two months two get another claim I made approved. So I guess it does depend.

Given you made the transaction, unless there was fraud of some nature involved in said transaction, your odds of a successful dispute are somewhere between slim and none.
