Amex MR points retaining

Hi All,

I'm planning to close my Amex gold as the usage in that has been decreasing and the dinning credits are not useful as they are 30% more when compared to ordering directly with the restaurants near me. I have about 120k points and I cannot transfer to any partners right away and no travel planned as of now. So if I open Everyday card and then close gold will I be able to retain my MR points? And will I be still able to transfer to airlines later when needed?

Yes and yes

One of the advantages Amex has over Chase, a no AF card keeps full transfer ability.
