I made a claim for a screen replacement. It was pretty straightforward. After uploading everything I think I got the payment a few days later. It was a fairly easy process. The coverage limits are fairly low if I recall.

Maybe this is already common knowledge, but I didn't learn about it until today. All* NFCU consumer credit cards other than More Rewards include cell phone insurance coverage. I generally assume only Mastercards have this benefit, and not all of those (I'm lookin at you, Citi). A phone rep told me today it's on Navy's Visa cards too. I was skeptical, so I checked their website for confirmation. Lo and behold, it's listed on their Credit Card FAQ page, but that doesn't specify the coverage limits or deductible. I'm too lazy to look those up in the docs that came with my card last year. Does anyone happen to know those details?

Has anyone ever made a claim under this program? How did it go? Was it administered by Navy itself, or the standard outside vendor, New Hampshire Insurance Company?

*Excludes business credit cards and debit cards. More Rewards is excluded because it's on the Amex payment network.

$250 per claim is really weak. No wonder people don't talk about this benefit much!

Thanks.

Which I know my deductible is $249 with Verizon so then this would cover that except for the $50 deductive from this coverage.

I just received my recently-PC'ed cashRewards Mastercard in the mail. The printed terms that came with it say this about the cell phone coverage: "The maximum liability is $600 per claim for World Mastercard, and $1,000 per Covered Card per twelve (12)-month period. Each claim is subject to a $50 deductible."

I now see it reported elsewhere that the coverage limit differs on Navy's Visas and Mastercards. Consistent with our findings, this Nerdwallet piece says it is $250 per claim for their Visas and $600 for their Mastercards.
