Received many Citibank offers for "pre selected" Custom Cash which I was not interested.

Yesterday, I received a Citibank mailer for PC from Simplicity to Custom Cash offer.

Simplicity card hasn't been used in years after an initial BT - now it's just sock drawered.

Custom Cash PC offer does not include the SUB nor the 0% BT offers.

Would you do a PC or do a separate app ?

Is it worth a PC without a HP, transfer the CL over to CC, and waive the SUB & BT offers ?

Or is it better to app separately, get a HP and risk not getting CC ?

My EX inquiries are very high (12/24) due to mortgage inquiries not lumping together.

DP:

740 EX 12/24 inq

748 TU 5/24 inq

761 EQ 5/24 inq

4% UT

$95K TCL

$115K income w/ new mortgage !

Being pre-selected is a marketing exercise - you were screened as meeting certain touch points Citi has established for people they want to apply for the card but it isn't by itself to be interpreted as there being a high probabilty of approval.

If you decide to PC it's a done deal.

You pointed out that you sockdrawered the Simplicity which infers that you haven't received and/or been highly motivated to leverage any Citi 0% BT offers.

If you don't mind burning a HP you can apply for the Custom Cash and if denied go ahead and PC the Simplicity.

Better or best is really based on your specific profile.

Based on what you've shared above, the switch seems more sensible than applying and the potential of getting declined. If you have an excess number of inquiries and/or new accounts reporting in the past 12 months, then applying for Custom Cash doesn't seem very promising, IMO.

Now, if you want to test things out and don't mind the extra HP or two (YOLO), then try that route. If approved, you at least get the SUB, but who knows what your SL might be.

If the card is sock drawered, what's the loss? I was in the same boat and PC'd my SImplicity about 3 months ago. Found the 5% on the highest spend category beneficial for me as I use it for restaurants. It would be nice if the $500 cap were higher, but still more beneficial than the Simplicity, IMO, at this point in my credit life.
