Anyone have any thoughts about the new Venture X card? Is it worth the annual fee?

From what I've read, I like it. As much as I agree with some of the annoyances we all share about Capital One around CLIs and such, I do applaud them on the pricing of their premium card. I do still find value in my Amex Platinum, but would be just as happy if they took away many of the credits and charged $400.

Their lounge is getting good reviews, so I like that as a perk.

My complaint with this card is the images I've seen are honest pretty bland/boring. I mean, they put no effort in design. At least keep the passport stamp design from Venture/Venture One.

There is another thread in CIN regarding this same card but since this thread does not contain link to an article (and because merging 50 "FIRST, BREAKING NEWS!!!) is hard 😭, they can coexist in peace.

Haven't been this excited about a card in a long time! Primary AND AU's get President Circle with Hertz and PP with up to 2 guests for free? This is similar to the old CNB Crystal Visa Infinite. Reasonable AF that pays for itself with the travel credit and anniversary points with amazing AU benefits.

edit: also reminds me of USBAR with the lower price point and credits covering the AF for the most part. But this one is better due to the lounge access.

Looking at some of the pre-release photos, it almost looks like a Credit One CC, color-wise. Not that there's anything wrong with Credit One, but as has been mentioned elsewhere, I would've thought it would have a more alluring design for a pricey CC.

Maybe this is as revolutionary as it gets for Capital One and their premium offerings. I wonder what kind of limits they'd be dishing out with this one 🤔

I wonder if they will let me product change from Venture to the new Venture X. In my opinion this travel card in much better than most of the competition and it surely beats Amex Platinum.

Just curious, does anyone know if the travel credits of the 10x hotel rewards multiplier are good for airbnb rentals as well, in addition to hotels? (I am assuming not though, since I would imagine it's not possible to book airbnb reservation from the Cap1 Travel Portal? Sorry my apologies as I don't mean to ask a dumb question or anything like that, as I have no previous exp. with using the Cap1 Travel Portal, so totally unfamiliar with how it works, etc.)

Also, one other quick question: the $300 annual travel credit admittedly does look very generous, but the only thing is, with COVID-19 raging and the travel industry a relative shell of its former pre-COVID self, and a lot of travel in general at a sort of standstill, genuinely just wondering how people who are interested in the Venture X anticipate being able to actually make use of the $300 credit so that they don't forfeit any of it? Or is the interest in the card largely in terms of a future post-COVID environment where travel is back up to normal?

Really, this past year was the best time to travel I was booking day trips to vegas it was cheaper then driving pre <mod edit> inflation. And booked plenty of weekend ski trips to slc.

People are still traveling. Demand has picked up a bit since last year. It doesn't mean it's back to pre-pandemic levels, but with vaccination rates being higher and individuals exercising additional protections when traveling, so travel is not at a standstill.

Aside from Capital One releasing this latest product, it's nothing new (it had been in the rumor mill for a while even before the pandemic). American Express has beefed up their offers with their Platinum card + other travel-related cards. Not long ago, CSP had an elevated SUB to promote travel demand as well. Moreover, BoA is releasing its ultra premium CC toward the end of the month.

I'll echo @FinStar as someone who has traveled once again for work it's not at pre-pandemic levels but travel is a thing again. Not a fan of some of the cancellations/delays at times but it is what it is. Some cities like New York restrict activities if you're not vaccinated aka vaccine passport/card for time being so something to keep in mind

For the card itself I'm gonna pass for now on it. I was thinking of getting BofA's new premium card coming out later this month but pictures released today make it seem like you need to one of the new two top tiers to qualify for it. Said tiers don't seem to be worth it since they didn't nerf the credit card rewards for Platinum and no increases for new tiers, other perks I'm not interested in

That or marketing/development departments are living in fear since Bonvoy Incident.

If you're gonna get fired over a name, make it count.

On a positive side, at least it doesn't contain "To be eligible for SUB, cycle through your limit five times per month for five years" language.

I think Cap One played this round well.
