Macy's Upgrade to Amex (Sneaky banner! and question)

I got the Macy's store card Dec 2020 with a tiny $300 SL (rebuilding after CCCS, not complaining). I've spent average $15-30 every other month and PIF before the statement cuts. Groomed the SL to $6000.00 via SP CLI requests every 30 days. I've been so eager to see the Upgrade Banner thingy in my online account and I never did so I stopped hoping. Well, today I got a marketing email from Macy's that I actually opened and once I was on the store site and logged in (to look at offers) the banner showed up! Thing is, it wasn't even really a banner it was barely a notice - less than an inch high black and white text notice at the bottom of the page, whispering, "You are eligible for a Macy's Amex Upgrade" so OF COURSE I took it!

Question - I took the upgrade and it's on it's way, how do I find out what the SL is?

p.s. I was gardening since May 2021, but since this will be reported as a new trade line, gotta start over - right?

Congrats on your Macy's upgrade.

The SL will be what your store card was.

It will change account #'s but not a new tradeline .. so to speak .

Keeps all your opening date and account history.

Am I crazy though? Didn't it used to be a new card/trade line? You had a store card and Amex version?

A long while ago, yes. But, it was dependent on how the accounts were set up.

Mine are still separate (all 4, Macy's + Bloomingdale's) since I was on the old legacy system. However, the majority of the accounts got converted, and post-conversion, a Macy's retail store account (same for Bloomingdales') can get the option to upgrade to the AmEx version (when eligible) without creating a new tradeline and the history simply carries over. So, no HP (or SP) for the upgrade and no new/separate account on CRs.
