Penfed Lock Feature

Today I was looking on Penfed's website and I noticed they finally added the ability to lock your cards. I got my Penfed card last year and didn't see this feature. They might have added it sometime this year and I'm just noticing.

now it's Bank of America's turn.

Do you recommend having your cards locked while not using them? I only use it on one card that I have for unsecured places; mobile/contactless pay for the rest.

@Yasselife yes I would recommend anyone to lock their card if they have it in a "sock drawer".

This may be the STUPIDEST question ever, but does locking it only affect its usage? Or is there some sort of reporting to the bureaus? I may be showing my age here, gimme a break

Locking the card is only related to using it for a purchase. It still reports. You can lock, unlock, use the card then relock in moments. They do NOT have this feature for their debit card which seems odd as the CC's do...

ahhhh, ok. Gotcha. Makes sense. Of course they don't care with Debit cards because it's not their money at stake.

Not a dumb question. If I recall correctly, Barclays will remind you after a certain timeframe that if you leave their card locked for more than six months it may close out the account ...

I have been waiting for these to lock their debit card since it randomly frauds all the time

edit: only see this feature in credit card but not debit. ridiculous. LUCKYLY, I haven't activated mine since replacement from fraud
