Interesting Discover Apr redux dp

Just wanted to share recent experience with Discover the other day . Been quite awile since i asked about any apr reductions/ promos so gave a quick call the other night. First rep said i was eligible and passed me to another rep. Asked if i had any offers and was indeed granted a zero percent deal for a year on my It card, currently with a 14% apr. Very cool ( current goal is now to use this card more to maybe end a 2 year+ cli draught ) Before hanging up asked to check my Chrome and said sure could check.

Unfortunately it, no pun intended lol, was still on a 12 month deal that ends in Jan but amazingly, he offerred to lower that apr permant from 21% to 16% apr as soon as the 0% offer ends in Jan! Pretty nice of them to do that ( usually have to wait abit after promos end to request again)so very happy for a double win. Have had some recent rejections in the credit world so this is a nice feeling. Happy Holidays everyone!

Thanks @AverageJoesCredit! I just called in the offer was either 0% for 12 months or lower my apr by 2 points from 20.99% to 18.99%. I took the 0%. I'll call back when the 0% is up and see if they will lower my permanent apr.

Wow, nice data point AJC. I'm gonna call them as well. Disco has been a tough nut to crack for me. An apr reduction would get me to dust it off for sure.

Thanks. Yeah i havent been using it alot lately, mainly just keeping it alive as im embroiled in a debt battle but seeing as im probably going to use a higher limit card to do a bt, im figuring even though less rewards on my average spend, a benefit of actually using the card more is it may jar a cli as almost all my rejection letters state not enough usage. Very best thing is calling into Discover has always been pleasant so just lose a few moments of ones day. Good luck if you go for it

AJC,

Great data point. I will call them to see if they lower my APR when I make a payment on the account. I am not holding my breath because that card gets PIF monthly.

Hey Guy, i wouldnt stress it much, i always PIF with Disco and it hasnt stopped me lol. Even if they say no there's always next time when they might say yes!

I will slightly hijack your thread if you dont mind though its relavant to your topic i promise! Lol im 6 months into a BT on my disco. In months prior to my transfer id been denied a cli for not using enough CL. Does bt count as activity and do we know how ms disco feels about asking for things with an active BT?

Hi @Wrigley2172 nice to see ya around as well. Its my honest belief that actually carrying a bt is activity and in past years ive seen many people get better cli results having one than not , though of course everything is ymmv with Ms Disco. I would love to give Disco some bt business but alas theyve taken them away from me for about 2 + years now.

Great thing is you have nothing to lose asking for a cli even while carrying a balance as its sp , to my current knowledge, and even if denied you can keep trying periodically without having to wait a specific time period!. Best of luck on your future cli endeavers!
