Verizon card or Amex Platinum for Cell Bill???

Can someone help remind me the benefit of the Verizon card when using it to pay for your Verizon bill! I got it when It first came out.

I'm asking because I recently upgraded to the Amex Platinum and the cell phone benefit looks like a lot of value.

Disregard. I remember the benefit now. It's $40 off each month with auto pay and the only credit card eligible is the Verizon card. Plus 2% in Verizon dollars.

How do you get 40$ off by autopay (it looks very enticing)? For me, it is 10$, but I am using Cash+ for autopay.

I don't have the card and I am looking at the Verizon webiste. Some Verizon card benefits look to be temporary but they may extend it (100$ credit in the first 24 months). The SUB is 100$. Not sure whether the monthly payment would get counted in the 2% Verizon purchase category.

Take a look at your Verizon account autopay option. There is a $40 discount available in my account when enrolled with autopay. But the only forms of payment are bank account, debit card, or Verizon visa (only CC available). The added perk is 2% rewards in form of Verizon dollars thru the Verizon card.

I guess, it is 10$ discount per line. If it was a 40$ discount, it was a small money maker to use one line of Verizon

I got really excited about this for a second. It wouldn't be bad for me since I have two verizon lines but I have the ink card giving me 5 pts per dollar or I can use the amex plat for phone insurance when I upgrade to a more expensive phone.

I did recently have an amex offer on one of my amex business cards that let me get $75 back on any online verizon purchase of $75 or more. It was an insane deal.

yep, $10 per line discount for auto pay. Verizon Visa is the only CC they accept for the auto pay discount otherwise you have to use a checking account or debit card.

No other CC works for the discount they charge a fee for all other cards. But honestly you get the $10/line discount for autopay even if you use your checking/debit card so that isn't necessarily an exclusive benefit to the Verizon Visa.

Right, but you also get a reward using the Verizon Visa and most debit cards don't give 2%. However, if you have Paypal Key, you can use that, get your discount (because it is a debit card) and attach it to whatever credit card you have.

If you use Cash+/Elan using PPK, in addition to the 10$ discount/line autopay, you should get also 5% (if it codes correctly, after using PPK).

I had my Verizon on PPK/CFF this quarter and not tested on Cash+ yet.

If you have Paypal Key it's very simple (OTOH, getting Paypal Key seems hard at present!) You just use the Paypal Key number to pay Verizon. As the Key appears to be a debit card, you get the discount. In your paypal account, you link it to say your AOD, and then get 3% back.

It works with FiOs on Max Cash, so while not exactly the same, it should work.

I am checking my Verizon. I have 15$ discount on my 40$/line: 10$ as a loyal customer and 5$ for autopay (PPK/CFF).

I am not sure whether it is feasible to add multiple CC to PP and for each PPK transaction, choose one card.

Generally I leave my PPK attached to one card (a 3%, or for most of this quarter CFF) but I will change it for one transaction, such as paying FiOS to get the 5%. It's a quick sequence, just have to hope no recurring bill gets paid in the short time!

1) Open Paypal and bill you want to pay (in my case FiOS)

2) Switch PPK to desired card

3) Pay bill with PPK

4) Switch PPK card back!

If you can get it. I'm still waiting.

I've got two lines so I'd be paying $20 per month to put my bill on a credit card. I'm too cheap for that, so it just comes out of my checking account. I intend to get the Verizon card soon, though.
