4506-c Discover

I applied last week for a DIscover miles card and was approved. I currently have a Disocver IT card (cash back). I woke up this morning and seen this request 4506-C request.

On the application I indicated 53k income (I personally earn more), transcript for last 2 years tax returned filed is north of 100k. Married filing joint.

How long does this usually take to be resolved, I have had my first discover card for <3 years. Do they consider the joint tax return as higher than stated income on the application??

When it happened to me a while back, they had accepted bank statements as the IRS was shut down.

IIRC, took about 7-10 days in all. As far as income, different states treat "household" income differently,

having said that, as long as it is income available to you for repayment, I do not for see any problems.

I don't see it being a issue as I was honest with what I said and I have solid income to show. But then again I'm not Discover bank lol.

I just went through this myself last month. I was approved and then got the request. I had called customer service the next day as I was concerned since my income had increased in the past year and it would not be reflected as such on my returns. The customer service person said they weren't even looking for income information especially given covid and are more so just concerned about fraud and verifying identity. It took about 3 days after I submitted the information online before it was taken care of.

It happend to me back in 2/2021. I was a little surprised as my accounts where over 20 years old. I complied and about 6 days later everything was back to normal.

I am pretty sure I triggered the 4506 request by asking for too many CLI's on the website. It was a SP so I figured no harm done. But the day in February that I requested it later that same day is when I was hit with the 4506 request.

It seems that Discover is on edge about certain activity that you perform. I think i'll give them a year or two before requesting anything else from them depending on the outcome of this.

@Anonymous in your case, there is nothing to worry about. Process should be completed in less than two weeks, you will gain control of your accounts, and you don't need to hesitate to ask for increase afterwards (given sufficient use).

You will be notified via email when process is completed.

Its weird that people with thicker files are being asked for this stuff. Seems rather annoying. Was there something else going on?

For me it could be. I had an open unsecured loan at the time. It was 75% or so paid off. It was always the reason I was denied a CLI increase and could be the reason for the 4506 but you never really know the reason.

Once I paid off my unsecured loan over the summer I let it report as paid off, then I tried for a CLI from Discover and it worked. So they where honest with me about my prior denials. They just did not like that unsecured loan

Yeah sure, they can verify your ID through your CR. They are after income..... All such requests that I may receive get the circular file.

Update - It took about 1 week for the review to be completed. I don't want to discover anything new from discover. This has been a discovery enough.

This happened to me also and I never asked for an increase. I applied for a Discover card in mid 2019 because they had a special for 18 months 0% for puchases/balance transfers. I wanted to go to South Africa with a group that was going in October 2020 (this trip has been cancelled twice, now rescheduled for Nov 2022). I was approved for 10K and promptly charged the $6900 trip to the card. I never used the card after that charge; in fact I never carried it until 2021. I made the last payment in January of 2021 (never paid any interest for the special ended in Feb 2021). I then started using the card for about $200 monthly and payoff once statement generated. In August of 2021, with a $0 balance I was hit with a 4056T; not once did they asked when I owed them thousands of dollars but they waited 2 years after and once I had a $0 balance and light usage to ask for that info. I still don't know what triggered it since they have never offered me a CLI and I've never asked for one! I have a total of $72200 credit limit across 7 cards (2 of the cards are Cap One that I will probably close once I purchase a home because both are stuck at $3500 credit limits), and I owed less than $600 at the time across all the cards.

Took a pass on Disc .They gave have acess to credit reports, credit utilization..simple to add credit payments off reports

I just had to do one of this for my disco, they kept my account open even tho my income is garbage the last couple years due to covid.

Took more than few days, maybe a week or two
