Best option for Wal-mart grocery pickup

Sometime late 2021 Wal-mart updated their app and website where grocery pickup orders now code as "walmart.com" orders instead of "Walmart Groceries". Prior to the change you could go through the grocery section, pick out your groceries and a pickup time and the charge showed up as groceries, and earned grocery categories cash back.

Last quarter was not an issue because Chase FF and Disco had walmart as 5% categories. Now that joyride is over, does anyone have a card or trick to earn decent cash back amount on walmart.com orders? Other than the CapOne Walmart card, I'm not excited about a triple pull just to have the privilege of earning cash back at walmart.

If you use instacart for delivery, you can use several cards that code instacart as grocery. Amex BCP gives 6% on instacart.

If you want pick-up at any store, you may use BOA CCR (3% online shopping, if plat honor multiplier --> 5.25%).

@fatcomicI noticed the change too. It was very sudden! I remember the website was grocery.walmart.com, and now it doesn't exist per se since they no longer distinguish/market it as a grocery purchase.

I agree with the other poster, Bank of America Cash Rewards is an easy choice with 3% back on online purchases. Additionally if you use this card in walmart pay, you can continue to redeem 3% off in-store purchases too.

Yes they decided to change it the one time I used my Amex to pick up my groceries and got 6% back 😆. Only time I ever bypassed using my Walmart card for grocery pickup was Oct,Nov and Dec with my Discover card.

Great to know! Would love to earn more than 2% in store after my year is up with Walmart.

You may be able to use Chase FF and Disco with PayPal Key to earn 5% cash back during the PayPal quarters for each card.

For in-store, you may use Apple/Samsung pay using Ralphs/Kroger (5% in digital wallet).

By using a combination of BOA CCR (online) and Ralphs/Kroger (in-store), you almost do not need any specific store card.

Doesn't buying walmart gift cards on the Walmart website count as 5% cashback using the Walmart mastercard? If so why not just prepurchase the walmart giftcards with your walmart card so you can still get 5% back since your first year of 5% in-store bonus is up?

If you use the walmart mastercard, walmart.com purchases get the same 5% cash back as groceries. Anything you buy that you do not go into the store and have rung up inside gets 5%.
