US bank Cash Plus & Altitude Go

So after an app spree im not going to apply for anything else for a year so I can have a shot at these 2 cards...hopefully. I want to be 0/12 just to be on the safe side and considering this is the last 2 cards I want that is easy enough but I do have questions. If I apply for the cash plus first, how long do I have to wait to apply for the Altitude go? And do they use the same hard pull if you apply the same day? Or is that a terrible idea? I know how touchy US can be. Keep in mind I have no negatives and will be over 800 fico score by the time I apply.

No I do not and im glad you asked because I forgot to ask, should I open up a savings and throw a couple grand into it?

It's only the Altitude Reserve that requires an existing relationship, so this comes down to the frequently discussed question of the general case, does a banking relationship improve the chances of getting a credit card. Personally I wouldn't bother, but lots of people take the "It can't hurt" attitude.

Eh, not sure that will really have much bearing. I applied cold to USB with no prior relationship or additional banking products and got the Cash+ with no problem. However, I wasn't applying for 2 cards either. Not sure what the policy is with USB concerning two CC apps.....logic would seem to lean toward them not combining the two apps into a single HP, or if that would even be approved. I know I've read approvals of multiple USB cards before, but I would still be cautious, is at would definitely be YMMV. Here is one I remember reading last year....

In theory a year would be best but personally I'd be willing to risk a hard pull and go for the 2nd card after 6 months. If denied, wait 6 months and try again.

So im thinking of going with the Elan versions of these froma local bank but I am curious about something. According to the pull chart here US pulls Equifax in Maryland. Would Elan pull the same?

I went for the secured version of the above cards but I can confirm that they will want a separate pull for each. However I did apply for them in the same morning and as a result it only shows as one on my credit report. Ymmv.

Also I misspoke earlier. I mean I see on the chart Elan pulls EQ in MD but I was wondering if US bank also did but I guess they are mostly one in the same so probably.

You could always get one card with US Bank and another through Elan. I got back to back approvals on the Altitude Go and the Max Cash Preferred.

Now I do have a long relationship with US Bank, but I don't think it mattered much. I believe the approvals would have still happened as I was 0/12 at the time of approvals.

CRAs will sometimes remove (in error) a second pull from the same lender under assumption it's duplicate pull.

This is the reason why some lenders (who are heavy on having accurate data reported) only allow one application in 24 hrs.

Since most of the times two pulls same lender/same day don't result in removal of one, I wouldn't rely on this strategy.
