AMEX Platinum airline credit triggered DP

Hey everyone,

I bought 4 Delta airline tickets, and used 2 e-credits ($100 each) from my delta account on 2-20-22. After the purchase posted I got the $200 reimbursed on 2-23-22.

Can you clarify which credit card, this is the AMEX Platinum card, correct?

Yes, Delta fares purchased with split tenders (paying the remainder of a ticket partially paid with a credit in your SkyMiles account or a gift card with Amex Platinum cards) where the individual charge(s) to the card is/are $250 or less are still coding as "additional collection" transactions... for now. It's a loophole that could go away at any time and there is no recourse if it for some reason did not trigger the credit. Fingers crossed it continues, though. As a Delta PM, there aren't really covered charges I can organically use with award fare taxes being the sole one I would realistically use (not going to buy a glass or bottle of Dom in SkyClub for instance). With the lack of international travel, it's not easy to use up $400 a year on two cards chipping away at $11.20 per domestic round trip. 😂

Agreed. I was planning on using the credit in a delta sky club admittance for one of my kids. I could potentially use it for my other 3 kids if they wanted to go. So no problem being able to use all of it.

Thanks for sharing these, I agree that if you have status it might be difficult to find incidental charges, unless you're back in coach like me paying $10 for a beer.

So they are still giving 200 dollar credits if we use Platinum to buy tickets for any airlines? Did you have to use AMEX travel to purchase the tickets? When you said e-credits, does that mean credits for actual ticket purchase or incidentals on a travel?

I went on my delta account, where I have 2 $100 e credits from spend on my delta gold card. Bought the tickets on delta account using my platinum card along with my e credits. After the tickets posted, I received $200 incidental credit for delta. I chose that airline.
