FNBO Rewards Upgrade to Evergreen - 2% Cash Back

I have an ancient (circa 2001) FNBO card. It used to say Visa Vision on it until a recent rebrand took away the "vision" label. I received 1% cash back on all purchases. Today I called to find out if I could get the card upgraded to their Visa Evergreen card (2% cash back). I was initially told no, and when I asked for more information I was transferred to a supervisor who approved the upgrade. I was told that FNBO hasn't allowed upgrades like this in the past but they want to promote the Evergreen card.

There was no hard pull and I will keep the original card opening date. I have excellent credit (833 experian) but I don't know whether that influenced anything. FNBO has been a great bank and I recommend them highly.

I have the Signature: 1.5% CB and a 12 months balance transfer and purchases, 0%.

So far so good. They gave me a 15K CL right of the bat.

The Evergreen also has this benefit now. But the promotion they sent me was for the Signature.

Can't be any happier with them. My personal credit is 43k. My AUs, 200k.

They probably saw the AUs with a good eye.

Nobody puts that kind of money in your name if you're not reposible.

I had a decision in 1 minute or less.

I'm not saying that it is an easy cards to get. But the have a good program.

I truly recommend them.

I had a card from 2013 that I upgraded to the evergreen card soon after it came out, I had no problem doing it just had to be sent to an UW for review. This card is much better for you than the 1%!

After I saw this post, I called and they only offer Evergreen. I was wanting the Gateway MC. The rep was super nice, I'm pretty sure she have never done this before. She submitted a request for the product change, and I will hear back within 7-10 days, which I'm assuming I will either get a new card in the mail, or a letter explaining why they couldnt covert my account. I was always under the impression they do not allow product change.

Nice upgrade! Used to have the FNBO "Bucks Back Visa" which after one year was upgraded to the FNBO Vision Visa Signature with NPSL (removed August 2015). Closed the card when the 1:1 rewards became obsolete to me. Interesting that you still had the card and got to P/C it. FNBO has always been more conservative and P/C ing was not an option. Glad you stayed the course and got 2% and the Evergreen Card!

Thanks. This wasn't the first time I called about a product change on that card. I asked at least 3 times over the years (likely more). I was content to play the long game, and I'm glad I "won."

Do you recall how this shows up online, or how long it took to show up? I called in Sunday and today I check and it still shows as signature account and when I click the "View Rewards Terms" link it still shows 1 point per $1.

I called back to check status because it's been 2 weeks. They had no idea what I was talking about and said their notes indicated I was told I need to apply for a new card because they will not convert accounts.

As I recall (keep in mind this was over a year ago), the online change happened by the end of the following day after I called. I had the new Evergreen card sent to me within a couple weeks. I do remember that the representative I spoke with on the phone gave me all the relevant details at the time, so there was no mystery for me.

I had heard the line about "We don't product change/convert accounts" before too. You might try calling back at another time and speaking with someone else. I don't know how my personal history with the bank may have played into the decision that was made.

Would be helpful to know posters' states of residences because FNBO has geofenced their credit products again. I have a Getaway that I would like to turn into an Evergreen but I'm no longer in FNBO's geographical area and I don't want it bad enough to call in to ask LOL
