Affinity FCU Hi5 Q2 2022 categories - GAS, Gardening, Supermarkets

After a scare trying to find the Hi5 (aka Hi Five) categories for Q2 2022, I reached out to AFCU via chat. I couldn't find any reference to the Hi5 program being offered any longer, and all old links I could find were either discontinued or listed cats from Q4 2021. I'm not 100% positive this Hi5 program is still offered for new card holders, as there is nothing official about this program ANYWHERE on the AFCU site. This may be a grandfathered program only now. Let's cross our fingers this program continues for new and old card holders...

Via chat, the categories will be:

GAS (7% cashback since this is normally a 2% category on the Cash Rewards card)
Gardening
Supermarkets (7% cashback since this is normally a 2% category on the Cash Rewards card)

Gas returns for a 2nd quarter in a row, but is a welcoming sign based on world events at this time! Nice to see AFCU extend the Gas category to help offset the pain.

Just an fyi.

It still shows the Q1 categories on Affinty's website.

You just click on the general credit card link and scroll down.

I think they just aren't the most tech savvy in terms of keeping these rotating aspects up to date.

Now I see the banner ad thing that cycles through several items. I just didn't catch it as it scrolled onto the 5% rewards portion. It doesn't show the "Hi5" logo anymore though.

Thanks for looking into this and posting the Q2 cat's. Was having similar thoughts about the fate of the Hi-5 program and having yet to receive the normal email announcement.

I literally came here to post asking if anyone had heard any rumors about this because I was starting to worry that I never got an email from them.

Gardening? I wonder if that is code for home improvement or something more weirdly specific.

Glad to see gas for another quarter. Every little bit helps. I'll also flip my grocery spend from Freedom to this for next quarter. This card is gonna get a lot of use in the next few months.

@Duke_Nukem THANK YOU! I would have never thought to reach out to them directly. I was holding out on a few Amazon purchases just in case they were going to somehow add them as a stacked bonus in Q2.

Will Costco.com code as supermarket? I know my instore purchases at Costco do, but I guess I will be the eventual DP for online purchases. Would love to hear feedback if anyone has tried this.

Can anyone provide the link to where the Hi5 categories get listed on their site (I know there is usually an email, but am looking for the site address)? I joined in January, but am waiting till June to snag the card (partially in hopes of a good card offer by being a member in a previous quarter). Fingers crossed that they don't nix this program before I get my foot in the door!

I do not know of any card that codes Costco/Sams as supermarket, not even there own cards so I would doubt it.

The Venmo Visa codes Costco as Grocery. It's a year round 3% card there if grocery is your top spend category.

Also worth noting that the BofA CCR includes wholesale clubs with grocery specifically, so if you have the Visa version of the card, and the Platinum Honors Rewards member level, it's 3.5% at Costco. If not, it's 2% base rate.

I would like to add that a regular Walmart superstore codes as supermarket for this card too, at least for me. I don't believe I have made a purchase at Target with this card, but it looks like we may have luck there.
