AMEX Platinum: Prequal offer is 150K... But should I shoot for the 150K + 10X dining offer?

Hello All!

So I'm looking to get an American Express card soon. Not an existing member. Checked website today and was "prequalified" for the Platinum, Gold, Green, and Blue Cash Preferred (BCP).

The Platinum interests me the most and I'm getting a 150K SUB offer... But since I'm already getting "prequalified" would I be better off trying to use a referral link for the 150K + 10X dining offer that's floating around? My FICO scores are between 790-810.

If you have a known friend who can provide such a link, I'd think that would be the better SUB to go for. The friend would also get a referral bonus.

At your score level, I doubt prequalification is necessary

I think the offer you're talking about is the resy offer. My buddy asked for my referral and I told him to get the Resy offer instead since (at the time) had a 15x on dining and 15x on shop small and 150k bonus. I wish it was still available, I would sign up for that.

I would go for the 10x on restaurants with the 150k. That's exactly what I did 2 weeks ago. Might as well get all the MR points you can. Other than the Amex Gold card which gives 4x points on restaurants it's gonna be hard to top getting more than 2x points on dining out or 5x points which you can get on travel and hotels. Getting 10x points on dining out for 6 months will be great!

@jcooks That was an amazing offer! The offer the OP is referring to a targeted referral offer some Amex Platinum card holders are being given to share, 150K and 10x on dining for 6 months. It's different from Resy. Lately the Resy offer has been 125K and 10x on dining, which still isn't bad just slightly less valuable.
