Just got this offer in my email, looks like my Rakuten visa card will be my general use card this month. I'm not sure if it's targeted or not. Of course with my luck, earlier this week I put more spend on the card than I have in a while. Just before the offer came around.

Nothing for me yet. Thanks for the heads up, though. I will certainly be watching out for the email to activate the offer if I get it. The Synchrony Rakuten Visa is still one of my favorite "Amex" cards! LOL

Edit: I spoke too soon! Email subject is "[first name], here’s your opportunity to EARN EXTRA CASH BACK!" But mine is an extra $20 (which will be 2000 MRs) instead of an extra 2% and of course came in after I already made a $150 purchase this morning. LOL But at least on the first $500, that works out to 4x extra.

I got the same 2% offer, but haven't used the card since Sept. This is right on time.

It's interesting how everyone has received different incentives 😜 I don't see a cap anywhere listed on the offer, though.

Mine states "5% when you make 5 purchases (minimun $10 per purchase required)." Then, an elevated 8% (vs 3%) on Rakuten purchases and 6% (vs 1%) on non-qualifying Rakuten purchases. This particular CC was taking a little siesta, but now it will be active for a bit 😁

@FinStar no cap referenced on the little asterisks?! 6x (I am assuming you are getting MRs, right?) uncapped on everything (and much more for those purchases through the portal) for a month would be absolutely amazing.

@K-in-Boston that appears to be the case. I looked at the offer again just to make sure that I didn't overlook a cap or maximum cash back award, and below was the only * disclaimer at the bottom. So, I figured y'all have a similar one? How do you have yours linked to MRs? Haven't used this CC in a bit.

Wow! Your offer isn't completely clear, so I wonder if (for non-portal charges) it's 6% on the 5 swipes of $10 or more, or if it applies to literally every swipe as long as you make 5 $10+ purchases, because again that's pretty amazing. There are a ton of 10% stores today (of course not Sak's since I need to use up my first 2022 Amex Platinum credit).

My account has always earned Membership Rewards (and I have earned a LOT of them; hence me often joking about how the Synchrony Rakuten Visa card is one of my favorite "Amex" cards and the sole reason I got the card) because I never signed up for eBates until they did the Amex partnership. I can switch mine to cash back on the Account Settings tab, so maybe you can switch yours to MRs there?

Hahaha. You know all this time when you mentioned the MR association with this particular card I was like...well that's interesting! But, I think you're more MR-heavy than I am as it would appear 😜

At first I was like....hmmmm... what is the K-i-B smokin'? 😂 Then, I read about it online and it made sense how folks leveraged MRs with Rakuten. I typically used mine more on the cashback side than MRs for some reason, so it was always the Big Fat Check for me. Then again, I wasn't receiving any juicy Rakuten incentives like those you've shared in the past. But, now you have given me another pro-tip that I hadn't considered before and going to see about switching...just how your Delta write-ups eventually led me to the dark side with SkyPesos and the Delta family of cards 😂

Just wondering for anyone else who took advantage of this promotion, does your cash back/MR balance in Rakuten still not reflect the extra percentages? I remember last year with a targeted promo they appeared under a separate part and it was delayed. Just want to see if I'm not the only one.
