Amex Plat Prequal vs Resy Offer

Hey MyFICO,
I'm struggling to decide on which route to take for my Amex Platinum offer.

So I was lucky enough to receive a Prequal offer of 150,000 Rewards points in the first 6 months. But I also see that Resy's current offer is 125,000 Rewards Points but with 10x points on money spent at Restaurants.

Which is the better value though? Right now I'm thinking the Resy... But of course for me to come out ahead I'd have to spend about $2500 on restaurants in the first 6mo this by my math.

But that leads me to ask a side question... does spending on Uber Eats count as a "restaurant"?
What about bars?

Any help is appreciated. Really excited to be a t a point that I can get this card, given how much I travel.

Uber Eats codes as a restaurant. Bars are a crap shoot depending on how they're coded, but it's been my experience that many code as a restaurant, too.

I picked up a Plat card 2 months ago, didn't get the Prequal offer so I went thru Resy. In 2 months in I've picked up 9238 in bonus points on the 10x Resy offer. If spending holds that puts me around 27k points in 6 months. It may work out better this way but not by much.

There are referal offers of 150k + 10x restaurant for 6 months, which was what I used when I applied back in April. I'm really glad that I have the 10x resturant, since I have racked up 150k points alone with the 10x as of today. But of course, it depends on your spending habit.

Nice! I've been working from the house for the past 10-12 months, so my travel hasn't been what it normally is. Not complaining though. Once the 6 months is up on the Plat 10x bonus I'm picking up the Gold off Resy as well. 20% statement credit for restaurants for 12 months, I'll cover the first AF just on that.

I ran into this referal link when I was doing research for Platinum online. So if you don't know anyone who has this offer on their accounts, maybe try look for it online. I'm not sure whether it still exists.

More like a few months ago. The 125k + 15x came in at slightly better than 150k + 10x for the heavy usage I ran through it (15x also applied to shop small, not just restaurants, and a grocery store P2 goes to alot counted for that. But as someone said above, the margin wasn't that huge. Even with heavy usage.

It really depends on how much you will spend on dining. Yes, Uber Eats counts. So should most bars. I found that some restaurants I frequent coded wrong for AmEx, so i had to go back to Savor and CSP for those. But in general P2 travels a lot and was able to get people to pay him back for meals on his card... so the 15x was a huge win for us. If you don't dine out much then figure out the break even point for being lazy with the upfront points instead.

I picked up the Gold the day after the Plat's deal expired, lol. 90k + 20% back. Already got the max $250 out of that 20%, just another 1k spend to go in the next 4 months to hit the 4k spend needed for the 90k. I got both cards at the right times ☺️ might do the Green after the spend on the Gold is met!
