Do 5% rotating categories cards show how close you are to hitting the cap?

I'm going to get the chase freedom flex once I'm under 5/24 later this year. I might also get the discover card right now. Do those cards show you after each purchase how close you are to reaching the $1,500 cap that quarter? Or is it your responsibility to track it on your own?

Discover has a tracker, of sorts, yes.

How does theirs work? Does chase not have a tracker? Having a tracker is important so I don't end up getting 1% back by accident.

The one for chase seems to only show for that statement cycle? It doesn't have a tracker like discover it seems?

Yes, Chase has a tracker which shows the cashback amount earned for the entire quarter. This is a screenshot of my Freedom Flex where the category is Amazon purchases, of which I made none.

Elan has a quarterly 5% tracker as well. I assume US Bank has close to the same thing as well.

I believe it is updated when a purchase within a qualifying category posts, even though the amount will not be available for redemption until the current statement closes.

I don't know how Discover works...sorry

Discover works the same. It shows your total after charges posts, but the redemption is not available until the statement closes.

I saw that post but it didn't answer how often discover updates the tracker.

Chase has an Ultimate Rewards area that tracks everything extremely well. The link I use is: https://ultimaterewardspoints.chase.com/home

From there the best place to click is under the circle where it says, "Your earnings so far this year." If you click the link that says, "See activity details" it opens up a page that breaks down almost everything, especially if you note and navigate through the various headers.
