AMEX Blue Cash Everyday Refresh

Good morning, myFICO family!

Was scrolling earlier today on the American Express website when I noticed the following changes to the Blue Cash Everyday:

A new 3 pct category on online retail purchases
- Includes Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Department Stores, Computer & Electronic Stores
- See downthread or refer to American Express MR Categories page
Enhanced rewards on gas purchases from 2 pct to 3 pct
Disney+ bundle discount -- getting $7 back each month with a charge over $13.99 after enrollment ($84 value over 12 mo)
Home Chef Credit -- earning $15 per month after a purchase of Home Chef meals ($180 value over 12 mo)

Current sign up bonus seems to also include 0 pct intro APR on purchases and balance transfers with a 3 pct fee, and $250 back as a statement credit after purchases of $2,000 in the first 6 months as it was before the refresh. The annual fee has remained the same at $0, and the card art has been refreshed as follows:

Was approved for this last night and recevied an email confirming these details for my new card. I've already downloaded the app and the new card design is shown as well.

Does anyone know if Amex did a refresh for this card when they last did so for the Blue Cash Preferred? I'm just wondering if there will be a refresh coming up soon for the BCP.

Hmm well if my BCP ends up not being beneficial in the long run, I may PC to this new BCE and keep it. 🤔

This is a nice refresh for the BCE. I wish they would refresh the ED/EDP cards.

Not a shabby refresh on a no AF card. I have the BCP for groceries, and no signs of a refresh, but it was refreshed 2 or 3 years ago.

Amex is definitely making the BCE competitive with the increase on gas, and some will find value in the Disney Plus credit.

Secondly, I agree with the bolded statement above. If I didn't already get the Disney bundle free with my Verizon service, it would be a huge plus.

I can actually imagine a refresh for the BCP made in the same design as the Blue Business cards but with its own pattern or just a blank blue card. How nice would that look ?

I was considering changing this card over to another Amex card, glad I didn't. This upgrade makes it very relevant in my lineup.

Very nice revamp. Was already considering downgrading my BCP when the fee hits, now even more likely.

Also, much less importantly, glad to see the cheesy (IMO) clear design go away.

Yes although the BCE does have a cap of $6,000 spend where bcp doesn't.

True. I would rather have the cap on gas rather than the BCP cap for groceries. I cannot ever see myself spending more than, basically, $500 per month on gas, but my family regularly spends more than that on monthly grocery spending.

What counts as online retailers? Is it any website i buy from?

another benefit is there is no longer a $25 min. To redeem rewards.

@Andypanda -- looked through the rewards info page from AMEX and was able to find this helpful guide! Will also update upthread with the biggest ones, but per American Express,

I noticed the change when checking my account - I saw the appearance of the card, in app, was different and googled.

The wife and I just signed up for Home Chef trial and like it but didn't know if we wanted to continue once the trial price has passed - the $15 monthly credit might help the decision.

As for the Disney+ credit, heck yeah!!! I just recently was approved for an Elan MCP and moved all my 'TV, Internet and streaming services' to that card, except for the Disney+ service. I kept that tied to my AmEx because it's through my wife's Hulu login and it's like pulling teeth to try and get her to remember logins.

Good thing I left it on the AmEx - 50% back is much better than 5%
