Surprised this one hasn't been talked about but it sounds like a good answer for Chase in the grocery category.

-Free instacart plus with subscription (A $99 dollar annual value)

-5% CB on Instacart purchases.

-5% CB on Chase Travel Portal

-2% Gas, Dining and Streaming Services

-No Foriegn Transaction Fees (neat!)

-Limited time $200 dollar bonus.

It's good for those who use Instacart regularly but that's about it. I don't know that it will entice people to use it as Instacart prices are pretty high typically (FWIW I typically use Instacart once a month and shop in store for the remainder of my groceries).

I some cases, I see items on sale via Instacart that are full-price in the store (Sprouts). It can be cheaper to pay $2 or whatever to have a store employee shop for me and bring items out to my car than for me to go into the store and buy them myself.

Delivery would certainly be more expensive, though.

I still have my Gold and Business Platinum so the rewards don't really do anything for me beyond the cash SUB and one free year of Instacart+.

I was noticing those deals at Sprouts. Some of the other grocery stores trended toward a 20% mark ups.

A different way of looking at this card is if you are someone who tends to Doordash a lot its probably going to be less expensive just to Instacart a prepared meal from one of the grocery stores and put in in the oven at home. Could possibly be a useful alternative.

I find myself running out to the grocery store too often just to replace one big item that I'm out of stock of. With instacart could someone limit the amount of runs to the grocery store and deliver in the 1s and 2s type items? While the markup could be present it may be convenient enough to limit the runs to the store.

If you currently DO NOT have an Instacart+ membership, then you get one year free starting when you're approved.

If you currently DO have an Instacart+ membership, then your next billing date will be delayed by one year. So if you have an annual membership with 3 months left on it, a free year means your next billing date will be in 15 months.

"Automatically recurring" means you are automatically billed $99/year after the first year (unless you cancel or get some other promotion to extend it further). Only the first year is free as part of this offer.

Yep. Instacart isn't that into "customer retention". They seem to be more geared toward churning as many shoppers (the contracted shopper/delivery peeps) and customers as possible. I could write a book here on that alone, but I know how the mods hate that. 😁

Well, as Instacart has, as recently as this last week, been shaking up their C-suite, presumably in prep for the long anticipated IPO, there's a lot of info out there to be quickly absorbed by those knowing what to look for. Combine that with the reading of shopper and customer experiences (definitely not isolated and showing obvious trend) on reddit, as well as one's own personal experience with Instacart....kinda easy to see.

My book on this post probably isn't really needed and in retrospect, would likely be ill-advised. I do somewhat value my Instacart account, and would like to have Chase credit options open to me in the future 😉

I miss the days several years ago when all of these tech firm startups were subsidizing good pay for its shoppers. Service was infinitely better. Now that it's not doing that, customers are expected to tip quite generously if they want their shopper to be paid fairly and want decent service from competent professionals.

I imagine anybody getting this card is either happy with the current level of service provided or is generous enough to subsidize the wages of their shoppers.

Chase card holders are getting some benefits with this as well.

CSR: $15 a month statement credit.

CSP: $15 a quarter staement credit.

Freedom: $10 a quarter statement credit.

CSR: 12 month Instacart+

CSP: 6 month Instacart+

Freedom: 3 month Instacart+

There really is no point in having both a CSR and an Instacart+ card with the $15 a month credit. CSP with $15 dollars a quarter that covers about a half a year subscription.

Having just made an order today I feel like its much more affordable than doordash and can save you a small grocery run. Where I live I have to generally shop across 10 stores to get everything I want so Instacart is convenient.
