What card/how to use at Starbucks

My Savor One coded dining lol, so 3%. Paid via app in-store, didn't upload to Starbucks card.

Gonna try Disco It CB(dining 5%) but wonder if I should just pay for it with a physical card, or like today via app, or reload starbucks card with it(also via app)

You can earn 2 Stars per $1 if spent when you pay with a preloaded Starbucks Card instead of 1 star. Add funds to your account with your Disco in the SB app.

I use the Altitude Go to reload the Starbucks card in the app. Occasionally Starbucks pops up with special cashback offers with other cards (like my PNC debit and Chase Explorer), so I might also use them as one-offs.

You do get the 3% if you load your Starbucks card with Savor, my wife does it all the time. That way you get the 2 stars vs the 1 using the Savor from the app. Discover also codes Starbucks (or Dunkin) as a Restaurant if you reload your cards with the Discover.

Thx! SB as restaurant, who knew lol. I'm firmly Mcdonald's McCafe(per rewards on app, for example large coffee $1), but will try exotic ones at times like Steamed apple juice yesterday which cost about $2.55 for SMALL size lol, 'tis robbery!

@Anonymous When I had Covid for the 3rd time in 3 yrs 3 weeks ago. All 3's I crave certain foods when sick. Went to Wendys, 2 plain singles, Lg Fries and Frostie. $17.83. Excuse me? Wut!!!!!! Glad I'm not sick anymore.

So charged $10 using Disco to SB card and just used it, and up pops Visa on my phone lol. I swear I saw a post here about the card discontinuing but it seems it won't close any time soon? Or am I tricked lol.

Didn't app of course and why is Disco slow, pending items a lot, wanna confirm it's restaurant lol. C1 was fast enough

I use all my SockDrawer cards with Starbucks. Yeah, I may not get rewards but it puts small activity on my SD cards and I don't even have to leave the house to get the regular activity on them...just add to your phone, charge then remove and move on to the next one...

I see you have the Amazon store card. Are you prime? If so, you can buy Starbucks gift cards at 5% cash back on Amazon and load them into the Starbucks app.

that's ingenious! No, not prime, so I guess Disco It CB is the best for this quarter(5% restaurant!). I don't really drink at SB anyway(Team McCafe which is like 1/4 the price! )

Just now a McDonalds, MEDIUM Orange Pekoe & black tea is $1.21 after using Rewards Of course 5% back as restaurant via Disco it CB!

Actually, I don't think it is easy to confirm how much cash back is earned from a single Starbucks reload on the Cash Rewards. I can see that I earned 2% cash back for a reload, but, I believe, the other 5% is part of a "Spend bonus" lump sum that I imagine includes cash back from multiple purchases.

Well, in the Starbucks app, there should be a button for "Scan in Store" which takes you to your list of payments methods loaded in SB. One of those is probably your Discover. At least one other is your Starbucks gift card you reloaded. If a Starbucks card is not your default for payment, you can click on the lower left to make it your default. Then when you use the app, it should turn up.

On iPhone, you can also send your SB card to the Apple Wallet, making it available to scan after you open Wallet, along with the related list of credit cards in Apple Pay which you would scroll when deciding to pay via Apple Pay.

There is a Chase Freedom offer out there for 10% back on Starbucks purchases, through August 31. Not every card is eligible, but it's nice if you can get it.

I use Starbucks and Amazon gift card srelaods for sockdrawered cards. They are both places I shop at regularly, so it works.

Here's my Starbucks strategy:

Default: I use my AmEx Gold Card (or the businees Gold) for 4X per dollar. I use these cards to reload my Starbucks gift card in the app, then I pay with the app to get 2 stars per dollar. So each $1 spent at Starbucks is getting me 4 MR points and 2 stars.

Occaisional: I will use Discover for 5% when they do the dining category during certain quarters. I will also occasionally use some of my other cards that have offers for Starbucks on them. I have seen a couple of AmEx offers for Starbucks across various cards, but I more consistently see them from my Chase debit card and my Truist credit card.

I always just reload my Starbucks card and it always codes as dining like it is supposed to, so don't hesitate to do that and earn the extra stars.
