It depend on the issuer. When I had a secured card through my cu years ago it did. It was out lined in the terms and agreement.

It seems that after many Visa cards eliminated the CDW waiver last year, the secured cards followed suit. I've been Googling around trying to find one that still has it with no luck.

Yes. I don't think you will find too many that don't do a hard pull, especially for a secured card. They use to pull from Equifax but the last time I asked they said that they could pull from all three bureaus.

They weren't wrong. We've had at least 1 member here whose CC application triggered a hard pull from each of the 3 majors as if they were applying for a Capital One card and my own Titanium application led to a EX hard pull.

AFCU does not pull credit for secured credit cards.

That is sweet!

They didn't even HP my Chex when I joined in 2018. That may have changed as they did when I created the 5% APR savings account just a couple of weeks ago.

A week long rental of a cheap economy car is more than $500 anyway. Unless you are doing super short term or 1 day rentals a $500 deposit should be no big deal.

Not to mention the preauth. Avis authorizes $250 over the rental charge in my region. $1000 is a good minimum for a rental car credit card IMO.

Bumping this thread with some updated information. I now have the Andrews secured card and I'm going to be renting a car in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks. I called the number on the leaflet that came with the credit card to confirm with Visa that I do have the collision damage waiver coverage. They said that this card does NOT have it. I have an email out to Andrews to get clarification.

You called Visa about your Andrews benefits? Visa wouldn't know what benefits Andrews has (lenders pick and choose which ones to offer).

I called the number on the back of the card- and also the number Andrews gave me to call- 800-348-8472 (also in your link posted above). They said this card does not have the CDW benefit. If you think I should be calling a different number, pass it along.

"Hello again, Thank you so much for contacting us. I called them (the Benefit Administrator) and spoke to a supervisor. She informed me they had a system updating and all of the features are there but the reps were unable to view them. She also said she would call you after to confirm the coverage. Thank you, Card Support Services"
