Verizon Fios Auto Pay and paying with a credit card

There has been some discussion about setting up Auto Pay for Verizon Fios with a banking account and then using a credit card such as the Discover It to pay a bill prior to the Auto Pay going through. The reason for doing this is, presumably, to earn cash back from a recurring, monthly bill. I was looking on the Verizon website and I came across what I have provided below. Doesn't this information indicate that what I previously described cannot be done without, basically, paying back the Auto Pay discount? I thought I would share in case this information is new or others may be unaware of it.

Can I make a one-time payment, even if I’m set up for Auto Pay?
Yes, you can make a one-time payment virtually any time, even if you're set up for Auto Pay.

If you make a one-time payment for the full amount of your balance, your next Auto Pay payment will be skipped. If your one-time payment is less than the balance due, the remainder will be paid via Auto Pay.

Keep in mind:
If you make a one-time payment near your Auto Pay date and your automatic payment is already in process, you'll see a message letting you know that making the payment may result in a duplicate payment.
If you're getting the $5 or $10/month Auto Pay discount and you use a credit card to make a one-time payment online or through the My Verizon app, the removed discount will appear as a charge on your next bill.

This is for the situation where you use a credit card on the Verizon Fios site/app, and it's been like that for ages. (I believe there was a time when it DID work, but then was blocked) What we talked about in another thread is pushing the payment via Paypal Billing, this is just a bank payment to Verizon and keeps the discount, Paypal charges your credit card (and eats the costs, for now!)

Oh, okay. I thought what I had read (and copied and pasted) prevented what was discussed in the other thread. Thank you for the clarification, @Anonymous. One more thing, I believe you have mentioned before that a bank account or a debit card can be used and Auto Pay will be retained. However, when logged into Verizon, the two options for Auto Pay are "Use Online Banking" or "Credit or Debit Card." It seems as though credit cards and debit cards are treated the same. Is that not the case?

Auto Pay will allow you to use either credit or debit. But, to keep your auto pay discount on your bill, you have to set up autopay with a debit card or checking account.

For SETTING UP autopay, I would assume so. Online banking will either need a login or routing/account numbers (don't remember which) whereas selecting credit or debit will ask for the usual, card number, name, exp date, CVV2, and billing address. Only when used for an actual payment does the credit/debit difference come into play

Thanks, @OmarGB9 and @Anonymous. I was concerned when I saw the credit card option and the debit card option are one and the same. Must be the fee is applied on the backend.
