Seeking Balance Transfer Card with Highest initial Limit

Hey everybody, so I have a $1300 balance with my American Express Gold card that I would like to transfer to a new card that I am going to apply for tomorrow. My EQ TU EX are either in the high 700s to low 800s, I have no derogatory marks or collections, never filed bankruptcy, and besides my American Express card I have 0$ balances. I have not added a new card for five years.

I was going to join Navy Federal credit Union and apply for their platinum card, but as a new member with no relationship even with excellent credit, I don't believe my initial credit limit would be that high. I have searched the forums, but of course there's a wealth of information, however not necessarily pertaining to my exact question.

I currently have a long-term relationship with Wells Fargo with a credit card, and then also my local credit union SDCCU. Can someone please recommend me some good options that would give me a nice initial limit. I know there are so many individual factors, but I sincerely appreciate anyone's input👌💯🙏

Balance transfers can take a very long time, and even more so when you request the balance transfer in your application. My advice is to pay off the Amex Gold balance by some other means.

As to good balance transfer cards, IMHO the best balance transfer cards are credit union, non-rewards, low interest, no-balance-transfer-fee platinum cards.

Navy for the platinum would be a great contender. They are known for great cl out the gate provided dti etc is un tact.

My wife was approved for the BankAmericard yesterday, with a starting limit of $19,000. It comes with a 0% BT offer for 21 months, with a 3% BT fee.

Since you already have a relationship with Wells Fargo, consider their Reflect card, which offers an 18-month 0% period that can be extended to 21 months by making payments on time.

IMO the easy options are Discover/Citi/BoA through their pre-qual tools. Chances are you'll get a starting limit above $1.3k.

Over the long run, though, like SJ said, you probably want to have various low-APR, no-BT-fee cards from credit unions in your wallet/drawer that you can use when there are no 0% offers within easy reach. This is what I'm trying to set up right now but CU memberships come with such a high denial rate.
