Amex BCE 3% at Sam’s Club

Hi, not sure if this is the right section for this. But not long ago I went to Sam's club and paid with my Amex BCE via the Sam's club app (which I usually use) and it counted as online retail for 3% CB. Not bad! I didn't see any other articles about this so I wanted to share. This was an in store purchase but just checked out via the app

Haha! I agree... now knowing this I may not even go for it ever upgrade the BCP since we do quite a bit of shopping at Sam's. Also, I wanted to clarify that this is using "Scan and Go" on the app I forgot to mention the proper term.

Awesome! Sam's club app purchases also code as online retail for the BofA Customized Cash Rewards Card. Based on your BofA relationship tier, that is potential earnings of 3.75%, 4.5% or 5.25%.

Great catch on using BCE and Scan & Go via the Sam's Club app!

At the risk of getting off-topic, the Venmo Visa codes Sam's Club (and Walmart, for that matter) as 'Grocery' without even having to use the app, so if you make frequent large purchases in the tire department where the app can't be used that's an option as well.

Interesting! My last Scan and Go and fuel purchase, both occurring on 9/17, coded as an online purchase. I'll keep an eye on this and report if the app purchases no longer code as an online purchase.

Are you talking about using an Amex BCE at the pump via the app? That coded as "online retail?" Or are you talking about that other card

If I were a Sam's member, I'd give serious consideration to the sam's club MC. 5% back at Sam's and 5% on gas. 3% dining.

Thanks for the link. I'm not a huge fan of store cards, however. I know it can be used anywhere.. but just my personal preference. I probably spend like 2-400 a month at Sam's. Nothing crazy. Mostly diapers and snacks for the kiddo and stuff like laundry detergent.

also it did show me as prequalified, but i don't think it was the MC version; so could only be used at Sam's and Walmart.

The 5% back on Sam's Club purchases is only for people with a "Plus" membership. Those with a basic "Club" memberhip only get 1%, same as using the card at any other random store.

The 5% back on gas and 3% on dining is nice, though.

While there is no Sam's club near my town, I got its membership almost free at the end of the year (stacking several offers). Until now, I could not buy anything from Sam's club because the prices were better at the other stores like Amazon, Target, Costco, etc. Unless they have some special pricing in store or gas, not sure the way that they can stay in online business to keep some costumers.

Anyway, it codes as retail store or wholesale club and you can find several cards in the market giving ~3-5%.

My Scan and Go in store charge coded as online shopping last Friday using my BofA Customized Cash VISA. So not sure, why that one Scan and Go trip at the same store last month did not code as online shopping.
