Over many months they increased my limit with unsecured credit by $25 until it reached $700.

At the bottom of my page, it said to open a new self builder loan to raise my credit limit. Cool. I signed up for the $550 one or once ? again and put $300 towards the loan upon opening. I waited a week before checking to see if I had the option to raise the limit and it didn't. I then called into SELF customer support and I asked for an increase. The rep had a deep accent but I beleived for him to have said "said sure we will increase your credit limit by $525". When I asked for an email confirmation I got this.

Previous Limit: $700.00
New Limit: $525.00

I asked them to please reverse what they did and put my credit limit back to $700 and forget I called. The rep said that there was no way I had a $700 credit limit and that I was mistaken. But the email proof is right there. After being polite and not getting anywhere I was convinced he didn't understand what I was saying. I then called back and asked got someone else. I got the run around again. "We cant increase your limit because you are at the max". I cited the fact that I did indeed have a $700 limit before but they could not find any record of me having that limit. I even asked them how I paid a $697 balance just last week. They didnt have an answer for it and said "we will open a ticket" and thats it.

For those reading, beware. Don't bother with self customer support. I don't really even need this card anymore so I'm probably just gonna close it. Good riddance.

end rant

The secured card is one thing and your CLI's. I'm confused in that paragraph. You asked for a CLI on a loan? That may be where things went south. Is this correct? Back and forth. Could you explain the loan only portion steps you made?

But after signing up for the loan, waiting a bit and calling in to inquire about said CLI, the reps misunderstood OP and I guess they thought OP was requesting a decrease maybe? Because they lowered OP's limit from $700 to $525. But then, when OP asked about reversing this change, self said there was no record and no possible way for them to have had a $700 limit. Sounds like a whole fiasco. @delldude, I'd call again and ask for a supervisor/manager.
