Macy's Amex card questions

I do not currently have a Macy's card. We are somewhat active online Macy's customers. In my account I clicked on credit card and it shows only the Macy's Amex card and invites me to apply. NO pre-approval or anything like that. I have 4 AMEX cards currently. Questions are:

Will they do a hard pull?

Did they just bypass the traditional Macys store card?

This would be an AMEX card to use places beyond Macy's?

Any other thoughts on the Macys AMEX would be appreciated.

Generally this is one of those cards that they see if you qualify for the full AmEx version, and if you don't, they offer you just the store version instead to start (same as with Best Buy).

Honestly, other than padding your overall credit lines easily, and now with the AmEx offers on the card (which are usually restaurants), the Macy's card with its' overly complex reward system is not the best for shopping at Macy's IMO. I am not a fan of them "force" redeeming your points for you AND then slapping a one month expiration on the redemption (when usually you just had a big purchase is what pushed you over the limit and forced the redemption, but now you're being manipulated to spend more RIGHT NOW or lose it.)

IMO the Elan MCP with Department Stores selected at 5% is better than the 2/3/5% tiered you can get with the Macy's, unless you are absolutely going to be keeping in that 5% range with yearly spending AT Macy's (non-Macy's charges on the card don't count towards that) AND have monthly charges there that will get around the "forced" redemption.

Obviously, YMMV, but I was excited to get my Macy's card upgraded to full AmEx after a decade... and now I'm considering closing it due to how much it's over shadowed at it's specific purpose.

I found Macy's AMEX much more rewarding then not having Macy's card! I constantly get promotions and rewards around 20-40% discounts.

I'm not an active Macy's shopper but I have no issue spending 1200 annually to maintain the Platinum status!

I don't use the AMEX outside of Macy's but you certainly can, they are also generous with CLI depending on your profile.

Should you get it feel free to request a cli every 31 days up to $25k with no credit inquiry. That's once you've had the card for a little while. This card really grows
