Questions about BofA Customized Cash Rewards CCR - Online Shopping category

Hello all,

I was recently approved for the BofA CCR card and I'm looking forward to selecting the Online Shopping 3% category but I wanted to get some clarity on what actually counts towards this.

Does it count ANY online transaction (such as, renewing my car tags online) or is it specifically for purchasing from online stores?

Also, will I still get the 3% if I pay through PayPal with the BofA CCR card?

Any other helpful tips to share?

@bluetomorrow, The only DP I can add, is that eBay codes as online shopping.

I am sure that there are many others that will chime in, and give you more useful info.

I think it's more along the lines of "retail purchases" than "any online transaction".

Thanks for this! Not sure how I missed it, but that exclusions list answers most of my questions.

Now my last question is: Does anyone have any experience using PayPal with this card and know if it counts towards the Online Shopping category?

That's great news, thanks so much! For anyone who can't click the link, folks on reddit confirmed that PayPal transactions do code as online shopping. I figured as much but it's always nice to have confirmation. Thank you, @M_Smart007

It is a very wide category. So, for any shop or payment that you may want to do multiple times, you may try once to see how it codes...
