Citi Strata Elite ?

Don't know if anyone has seen the newest "Ask Sebby" video, but he has found a trademark issued to Citi for Citi Strata Elite.

He is speculating that Citi is looking about getting back into the Premium Travel rewards market after their Prestige being discontinued last summer.

New trademark registration, so no leaks yet on what this card could be. Would be interesting to see, but if Citi is still stripping all the insurances that Chase and Amex offer, might be a hard sell.

Just to repeat that this is a new trademark that Ask Sebby found, but he is speculating that it might be their entrance back into a luxury card.

Just so I understand, there's a guy who monitors for trademarks companies register so he can speculate on YouTube on what they're going to do with them?

It's not registered. It's a trademark application.

I for one will wait for an actual release from Citi with actual information on any such card before I start doing any further thinking on the matter. Speculation is the gateway drug to hyping, and hyping just leads to disappointment.

That's actually subjective. He predicted the AmEx card to materialize, yes the one that was purportedly rumored to be an in-between product between Platinum and Centurion, almost to a prophecy. Yeah, I'd rather see Miss Cleo's predictions than someone who consistently provides a lot of misinformation. Oh wait, she's not around either, but I digress 🤷‍♂️

Its a little surprising card issuers don't move faster on trends like premium travel earn (10x) and new lounges. Capital One is doing it but you don't see it with most of the big issuers content to pedal the same stuff.

Before heaping too much praise on Capital One for moving quickly with trends, keep in mind that (as far as I can tell) they have exactly one airport lounge (DFW) actually operating so far.

There's a big fight at the executive leadership levels in Chase and I assume others about whether CCs are even the future.

I don't think there's a major incentive to change right now until that picture becomes more clear.

I'll believe Chase gives up its credit cards when I see it. Credit is helps the economy grow and access to it is critical for a lot of industries.

Furthermore I don't think we would be seeing Chase open Sapphire Lounges in airports if credit cards were going away in the next 5 years.

Seems like with all the Chase Sapphire Reserve ~~buzz~~ noise, now would be a pretty good time for Citi to step up with this card. My guess is there are a lot of Chase cardholders looking at the premium card landscape right about now - many willing to jump ship if there were a place to go.

I think the card is being delayed. They are assessing the CSR and trying to determine if they can capitalize on the card's negatives.
