topic FNBO mailer in Credit Cards

FNBO mailer

I got a mailer for the FNBO Evergreen card and am aware that these mailers are computer generated. Was somewhat interested so went on the site and without using the provided code in the mailer went to see if I was pre qualified before taking the risk of a HP. Nothing had changed on my report since recieving the offer and used the same address info that the mailer was sent to. Got a response that I am outside of their network area so there are no offers available. Has anyone else had this experience with them? I'm also aware that denial reasons aren't always accurate with what's really going on.

I got the same prequalifying message (out of network coverage) for the Evergreen Business card, but not the Evergreen Personal card (Texas), which I have in my wallet.

Be sure you used the right prequalifying page. The business and personal prequalifying pages are almost identical.

Not sure what states are on their No service list. South Texas is OK for personal but not business in my experience.

Outside their area you need to use the code provided. Once you are approved you are in with them.

Why didn't you use the code that was sent in the mailer you could have been accepted and approved. Just saying!

@gingerfloweri didn't apply I just did the pre-qualify tool on the site because I wanted to see if it was a true offer. I had heard that they only work with certain parts of the country and didn't want a HP of it was a bogus offer. I still have the mailer and will most likely apply after reading everyone's replies.

This is the correct answer.

It's a pretty general truism that targeted, individualized mailed or emailed preapprovals that come with an offer and/or program code will use the code to override a public georestriction. FNBO has been doing this for a while; PNC is another example of an issuer that I know used to do it as well.

Yup, this is how my daughter got hers. She was approved after "You do be far away" for Evergreen started.

Mailers work for geo-fence, but approval itself will be based on HP (as in not a "true" pre-approval, just like their website).
