Chase Freedom Unlimited - Extra 1.5% back on all purchases???

Just saw NerdWallet's article published 2/27/23: Scroll down to Chase Freedom Unlimited

According to the site, Chase is offering an additional 1.5% cashback on everything you buy up to $20K spent in your first year.

I was just approved for this card last week and I didn't and still don't see this intro offer on Chase's site. The current offer is for 5% cashback on groceries up to $12K in the first year.

So, publishing error or do we think they know something we don't know?

Both are available depending on the page you apply on. I saw that 1.5 offer last year as well on the CFU. The 5% at grocery if maxed out is $600 so it is the superior deal. I guess if you signed up for both cards (CFU and CFF) within the same year then it might make sense to use this promo on the CFU. I would still get the grocery promo on both and just get gift cards to pay for things not categorized as grocery.

Thanks for sharing this. Very interesting offer indeed. I'm gonna check out Chase's website but I doubt I'll see this offer since I got my CFU last August. But definitely worth checking this out.

When you click on the nerdwallet link it takes you directly to the chase site with the offer. It's actually a pretty good offer different from any offer they've had for this card. If I didn't already have one and was in the market I would apply in a heartbeat

CFU can be a great card if combined with CSR or another card that allows UR transfers...

And some people have a lot of off-category spend...

But generally speaking, there are easier ways to get a $300 SUB than to spend $20k.

My 12 year old has been making me watch Survivor and we watch it on Paramount+ Essential (ads) which comes free with WalMart+. They run the Chase Freedom Unlimited ad. All it touts is the 5% groceries first year. It actually doesn't even mention that you get 1.5% on all purchases, or anything else.

This is actually quite an interesting offer. I have applied for only 1 card the past 3+ years, and a Freedom card could go nicely with my CSP. I may consider this offer.

@wasCB14 Totally agree and the avg person is not going to run $20K on a card.

(Avg person ≠ myFICOers. 😂)
