Capital One "Platinum" Product Change

Hey All,

I'm a long time reader (lurker) here, but first post . Anyways, i'm going through my credit card portolio and figuring out what to do with a couple basically useless cards. One such example is my old Capital One "Platinum". It has no annual fee and i've had the thing for about 18 years now, so i plan to keep it open, but was wondering if anybody has had any luck with a product upgrade on this card so i could possibly get a more useful card but keep the account history.

There is a link floating around that let's you check and see if your account is eligible to be PC'd to something else. In 2016 I was able to PC my Platinum into a QS.

I got an upgrade from Platinum to QS about 8 months after I received the Platinum. Got the Plantinum end of January 2021. Upgraded end of August. Actually, more like 7 months and then the upgrade.

Thanks for the replys, glad to see some folks have done it. I havn't seen any offers, granted until recently my credit was mediocre at best, and i don't think i've even logged into my cap1 account in....a while. i was just sort of testing the waters to see what other people may have experienced. Might check after i'm home from this long business trip, when i can do the 2fa to get back into my accoun and /or call.

on desktop, click into the Platinum account, in the address bar after the equal sign add "/productupgrade"

this will prompt the system to check for any possible PC offers

you'll get offer(s) or you'll get this if you do it right:

I upgraded mine to a QS but it is still sitting at the $1,600 SL it was approved for in June 2016. It's sock drawered. I put a charge on it occasionally and pay it before statement cuts. It's my oldest open card along with a Chase FU I opened on the same day. I'm planning on keeping both open for age metrics as long as possible.

I was browsing through the CapOne app earlier this week and saw that I had offers for product change. I had the option of Venture, Venture One and QS. I chose the Venture card and it just arrived this morning. I've had the CapOne Platinum for over 4 years with perfect payment and multiple CLI from CapOne themselves. CLI is at 5050 right now but will start requesting those increases regularly now to grow them out. Good luck on getting your product change.

I just upgraded my Old Platinum to a New QS and my Old QS to a New Savor!

Regarding your old QS to the Savor - is your new Savor the 4% back on dining with the $95 Annual Fee?
Or

the 3% dining $0 AF Savor One?

I wish I could get an offer to upgrade my VentureOne to a SavorOne but they only offer me an upgrade to QS and since I already have one of those I don't bother.

I do have a pre-approval for the "good credit" SavorOne but I think I will wait and see if they ever offer me the excellent credit one with a SUB if I have to app for a new card. I'll more likely just ignore CapOne and use other cards in my wallet.

I just have NO Capital One cards to upgrade (I do not hold any Cap1 cards)

At one time I had a Walmart MC that was taken over from Synchrony.

I closed it, as it would not grow, and I was not shopping at Walmart.

I keep the Capital One Creditwise to monitor my LOL/24 status. (currently 14/24) A new low for me
