Congratulations on the conversion. BoA has a matrix of supported conversions but at least for some permutations there appear to be account-specific factors that influences whether or not the system will accept the conversion request. If rejected the CSR will know immediately but they don't have the abilty to override.

BoA does have a history of retaining the original issuer when product changing to a Cash Rewards/Customized Cash Rewards card. There was a period for about a year where BoA issued new Cash Rewards cards as Mastercards, after which they switched back to again issuing as Visas. During that time, while new cards were being issued as Mastercards product changes from existing Visas like the Merrill+ were being reissued as Visa Cash Rewards cards that retained the CC number and credit history.

After a few years of trying on and off for a PC with BoA, I was finally able to change my BankAmericard to a rewards card (the Customized Cash Rewards).

This card started out as a $400 secured BankAmericard MC in 2017, with a $39 AF. It took nearly 2.5 years to unsecure, and then another 2.5 years after that to get a CLI - although I didn't try for a CLI very often until 2022.

After the CLI to $2800, I called about once a month to check if a PC was available, and FINALLY had success this month. It might have something to do with the AF being permanently waived. I received the CCR card today - still a MasterCard although new CCR accounts are usually Visa. Here are some DPs, hope this helps others since PCs with BoA seem to be hit or miss.

10/2017 - account opened as $400 secured card (BankAmericard MC)

3/2020 - automatically unsecured, received $400 check in the mail

11/4/2022 - requested SP CLI to $5000, BoA countered with $2800

1/2023 - received email that annual fee will be waived permanently

3/29/2023 - called for PC to CCR

4/5/2023 - online account reflects as Customized Cash Rewards MC

4/7/2023 - received email that new card shipped

4/11/2023 - new card received, same number, expiration and CVV as old BankAmericard
