Does anyone know how long you have to be a member before you received an upgrade?

My boyfriend needs a stem cell treatment and they don't accept care credit (we only got this card because they assured us it's accepted) and now he has an 18,000 CL that is just sitting there. We use it at Walmart from time to time but that's it. Please, if anyone has any suggestions let me know. It would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to myFico.

I'm sorry to see about your boyfriends medical issues. I hope things work out for the both of you.

Upgrading from the retail card to the dual card is random. It's not normally initiated by the current card holder. However, you have an excellent credit line. Was this the starting limit? If it was, that is one of the highest starting lines I've seen for Care Credit on their retail card. I just hit $20K after 12 years.

I assume you were looking for special differed interest for this card for the treatments?
As an alternative, you could consider looking into new cards with other issuers that offer 0% intro APR for a significant period. Some have up to 21 months such as Citi. The existing $18K line with Care Credit may get you a fairly decent starting line with another issuer that may help with your situation.

Thank you for replying. I need to correct myself. He has one with a limit of 9000 and I am the authorized use of his father's with a limit of 9200. But the only reason we applied was for this specific procedure so it's very discouraging. My credit is not great due to student loans and some bad decisions a few years ago. Are there any care credit alternatives?

Thank you for the reply, are there any care credit alternatives you know of? We're in a desperate situation and since I'm the only one working it's very hard to save.
