While you cannot be approved for a CSP with less than $5K SL or CSR with less than $10K SL Chase will allow you to reallocate enough limit from an existing card to drop the CL below those thresholds.

A minor adjustment, partly just to see how this works and partly because the $10.9k bugged me a little bit. I called and asked them to take $100 off of the $12.7k CSP, making it $12.6k and adding the $100 to the $10.9k CFF, making it an even $11k.

A cheerful rep took care of it quickly. "No problem at all. It's your credit to use where you want it." (I called the number on the back of the CSP because the Sapphire line purportedly gets quicker service than the standard line.)

That's kinda what I was hoping for when I applied. When I got the CFF in 2021, it was my highest CL. But when I applied for the CSP, I had other cards with much higher limits and was hoping it would be up there with them. So . . . I got approved. I got approved for a high enough limit that I could have gotten a CSR instead if I wanted it (and I had been considering it). But it wasn't quite as high a limit as I'd hoped for. Still a win, and a good win, but not the blowout win I was hoping it would be. If I could get the CSP up around $18k and the CFF around $12K, I'd be good with that - $30k total exposure with Chase where I'm currently at $23.6k. I'll just keep hitting them up for more every chance I get until then, lol. CLI requests are now SP, and there's still the old standby of getting another Chase card later then moving limits around. This was mostly just testing the waters to see how the process works.

Like a Chase Amazon card or a Chase Marriot card? I've never seen details on what can be consolidated. Are there limits on this? Or is it a free-for-all? I have read that you might have to leave a little on a card so you might lose some. Like a CSP has a $5k minimum CL, so you might not be able to go below that. (Not that I plan to get rid of my CSP. I'm just using that as an example.) I can certainly see the Amazon and a Marriot (don't know which one) in my future. But I could see later on thinking "I'm not really using this much. Maybe I can consolidate this credit with something I do use and get rid of it." Or they give me a $10k limit on the Amazon card and I really only spend a few hundred bucks a year, outside of maybe a new computer once in a blue moon, and I think moving $5k of that over to the CSP would make that Sapphire look real pretty.

This morning I called to ask if I could move $1500 off of my Amazon Prime Rewards limit and add that amount to my Freedom Flex limit. At first she seemed happy to help and then came back and said they couldn't move it across from Visa to Mastercard. That didn't seem right since I just did exactly that when I first started this thread, moved part of the limit off my CSP Visa to my CFF Mastercard. I suspected that the real reason might be that they wouldn't rob the limit from an Amazon account to keep Amazon happy. (Or possibly because I called the Sapphire line to move limits between two cards, neither of which were Sapphires, but that seems unlikely.) @Aim_High

So just now I called back and asked to transfer limits from the Amazon Prime Visa to the Sapphire Preferred Visa. She said I could move a maximum of $20,000 off the Amazon Prime Rewards. (That would have brought that Visa Signature down to $1300.) I moved $4900

$21,300 - 4,900 = $16,400 Amazon Prime Rewards

$12,600 + 4,900 = $17,500 Sapphire Preferred

She said it was effective immediately and I logged out and logged back in to the Chase website and confirmed that it reflects the new limits correctly.

At some point in the future, I'll call back and see if I can move part of that off the CSP to the CFF to bring the CFF up around $12.5k like I tried this morning. I use the Freedom Flex a lot more than the other two.

I'm still afraid someone is going to realize that they put a decimal in the wrong place when they approved that card, lol.

Awesome. Thought you might be interested in the DP. Yes, HUCA was my first instinct, but I decided to let it percolate in my head for a while before calling back and trying a slightly different approach.

And now that you mention possible PC restrictions, I remember that when I first told her I wanted to reallocate credit limits, she said that what I wanted to do was not reallocation but consolidation. I didn't give that much thought at the time. I didn't care what they called it if I got what I wanted. Now I'm wondering if she just pushed the wrong button.

I plan to call back in a month or so and see if I can move $1500 from the Sapphire Preferred to the Freedom Flex.

That would make it CFF $12.5k, CSP $16k, Amazon $16.4k.

That's still probably double what I need on an Amazon card, but whatever. If I plan an African safari or something, maybe I'll move another $4k-8k to the CSP.
