SDFCU Secured Visa info about graduation

I was approved for my SDFCU Secured Visa about a year ago. I went with a high limit for that one ($6500). I recently started thinking it might be eligible for graduation soon so I gave them a call this morning. I was told that cards with a limit over $5000 are not eligible for graduation. Sooo.... I requested that limit be brought down to $5000. That should be completed in in 48 hours. Then I'll wait two weeks to see if the rest of my funds are released. One other note about graduation reviews, they are done by a third party and only happen once per year. So for my card, if it doesn't happen in a few weeks, then it won't be reviewed again until next May.

Interesting data point.

Once a year, not ideal.

Looking at your signature you have made excellent progress over a years period of time.

Almost 200 fico points gain, and 8 cards in hand.

Will continue to rise with just time.

I noticed you have 3 secured cards with more than 10,000 tied up.

In a HYSA or CD that's about $400 a year just sitting

If I were in your position I would drop all your secured cards to minimum funding.

Close any that will not un-secure to a good card.

$10,000 is a lot to tie up with your scores and number of cards. (Just My Opinion).

@Kforce I'm waiting for my AAoA to be a year. Then I'll do my next round of apps to hopefully get better cards to replace what I'll have left for secured. My TD Bank card graduated recently. And the SDFCU card might graduate soon. Andrews and Open Sky won't graduate so they will be replaced.
