Prime Visa Preapproval Tool

So although I've never had any dealings with Chase, I know I'm almot surely blacklisted until my BK7 is off my record. That being said, just for curiosity purposes I've tried the preapproval tool a twice from the Amazon site and haven't gotten a yes or no either time (I really just want to know how they say no when you're on a BK list more than anything). I just get a we were unable to obtain a credit report message. Lately I've been keeping EX frozen but in both instances I've tried the tool while on a pre scheduled thaw. Is this their way of saying no without saying it or is the tool broken?

you need to have your Exp unfrozen for at least a day, sometimes up to three days before the prequalify tool works, otherwise it will kick back that your file is frozen or it cannot be found

if even after waiting several days, your file still can't be found, consider entering in your information manually (not selecting the amazon default) and consider making an account with Chase, signing up for Credit Journey, probably being the easiest way other than a checking/savings account

Geez.....3 days unfrozen before using a preapproval tool is absolutely ridiculous IMO. When I had to get corporate Amex green for work in March (that was initially denied due to the EX freeze even though I had already opened my personal BCP), 30 minutes after initiating the thaw they were able to see everything and approved it. In the case of the Prime Visa tool, I waited 24hrs after the thaw went into affect and had already used other various tools that would require new SP acces (not related to chase) be fucntional and they were fine. I guess it is what it is, but I don't think my opinion that 3 days is unaccceptable could be changed haha.

Thanks for posting this. When I click on the link, I just get a straight-up Chase app, not a pre-qual. I have seen the pre-qual before but can't get it to come back. I also have had it tell me that it couldn't access my EX report, even after I unfroze. I searched and on another myFICO thread, there were comments about the pre-qual "coming and going" at random. That has been my experience.

Since I burned Chase for $57K, and my BK turns 10 in August, I'm not willing to burn an HP going in blindly. My plan was/is to wait until after the BK drops off, then try Chase pre-quals until I get something encouraging, and then apply, fully expecting to have to recon. And I would use the Amazon Visa since as a co-branded card, it is rumored to be easier to get approved.

It does seem that SP pre-quals are the way things are going and Chase may be forced to do them at some point.

I tried this and got the exact same error.

I filed BK7 in 2019, but didn't burn Chase (have never had a relationship with them), and did not have my report frozen.

I assumed it had something to do with my BK7, the Amazon Prime Store card prequal worked just fine (Synchrony).

Yeah I've had the Amazon Synchrony store card for many years now. I also burned Synch Amazon in my BK7, but it was only like $1K. The limit has been at $10K for years now, but I read on here where some people have been able to get their Amazon store card limit up to $35K, Synch's maximum per card. I called CS, they ran my numbers and came back with a "no." TU8 is 850. I use Amazon daily for personal/work and spend about $2K/month. I think that the $10K limit is pretty set it stone, but I'm willing to change my opinion based on others' data points.

The reason it's called thawing is because it used to take time to access after the request. Like thawing something from your freezer before you can use it. That's why there is also an option to lock and unlock reports, which is instant. Not that long ago I thawed my tu and it took a week before my report was accessible. Normally it's instant, but occasionally there's a delay before it's available.

If you request online it's required by law to be unfrozen within an hour. They have 3 business days from receipt if requested by mail. Experian even says give it an hour for online requests on their site. I'm pretty sure my file was thawed because I was already able to use other tools that require being unfrozen prior to doing this prequal. As for your experience with TU...if they took a week I'd lose my mind and consider that completely unacceptable.

I had the same message until my BK fell off earlier in the year. The next month it worked. It also took a month before chase gave me a preapproval for their main cards. I received a 13k and a 15k limit. Wells Fargo gave me the same message until 3 days ago. Now it shows I'm approve for all their cards.

Yeah, I got the $200 offer...tempting but recently picked up the garden spade. Alas, unfroze all three...same "unable to access report message". I am 6/24, without prequal, even with Amazon being "potentially" exempt from Chase rule...two hard pull dice roll, nah.

Last Friday I tried early in the morning. I got the same reply. I have never put my reports on hold.... I am also a Prime Member I was logged in to my Amazon account. I tried a few times same response this was all in the early morning.

This is where it gets weird. I went to take an old friends Mother to play Bingo. I left at 3pm and didnt return home until apx midnight. I went to check my banking account with Chase and it wouldn't let me starting that I needed to contact them and my account was froze.

So I called late and we'll they said I would have to call in the morning. So I went to work and right at 7:05 am I called Chase. Somewhere that night while I was at Bingo someone applied for the Amazon card I believe they said at 9:38pm. The didn't have all the proper info when applying. So Chase froze me etc. IM good now but now Im aftaid to even prequal on Amazon etc. It almost closed down my bank account. These days your guilty until innocent. Scammers are winning.

All you posters watch your credit reports. Especially your Amazon accounts. Something isn't right ... it want me that attempted to apply somewhere at 930ish at night. I was over an hour away playing Bingo.
