Need your input... Signature FCU or State Department FCU

I have read reviews on both credit unions nothing that helps. SDFCU website says minimum credit limit is $5000 no minimum credit limit Signature FCU

If you were going choose between those credit unions for a 2% cash back credit card which would choose and why?

I'm a member of both and applied for these two cards about 2 years ago...I've settled with SDFCU and have been happy.

The front-line Signature FCU rep I got couldn't reach the lending department to help me apply, and ultimately they called back and left me a voicemail directing me to apply online. My ability to apply online was broken at the time, which was why I called in the first place. In the meantime I had uploaded a pdf app through their secure portal and never heard back...

SDFCU asked for POI the morning I applied, and approved me within 30 minutes of supplying it. My reports were hot at the time so they started me at $5k but it's grown to $12.5k from yearly auto-CLIs with only moderate use.

Signature FCU's VS has a 6% bonus category for streaming services. Their 12.5% APR is pretty good nowadays, and they held 8.7% previously for a long time.

SDFCU's max CL tops out at $100k, vs $25k at Signature (I can't find this on their site, but people here have reported it). Their APR is a bit higher than Signature (mine has floated up from ~9% to 13.99% as rates rose). SDFCU's VS also comes with a $200 sign-up bonus. In the past they had a minimum $5 reward redemption but that may have been removed?

Be sure to look at Alliant CU in Chicago and their 2.5% cash back on up to $10K spending per month, no annual fee. Easy requirements to get this tier.

You made the same suggestion on my Synchronny Bank post. My answer today is still the same. I will not have two checking accounts one is enough.

You know, I don't keep track of who posted what on here. I reach out to try to help. It's clearly a waste of 30 seconds of my life that I will never get back. A simple "thanks for the info" would have sufficed.

As a note :

Many CU savings accounts used to open/keep membership,

have a debit card that gets linked & shipped after joining.

I have a few in the sock drawer.

@AndySoCal DM applied for an auto loan with Signature a couple months ago 791 EQ. They request POI for all new members. They are VERY conservative it seems on your first loan with them.

$100,000 is a generous max limit, although I doubt I would have much pressing use for that much. I PIF and don't have any debt to pay down, currently. It is good to know, though. Maybe I will end up enticed enough to take out a no-frills, low interest credit card with them at some point. Thanks for that info.
