Overstock Store Credit Card no longer accepting applications

This is my first post on here. While on the Overstock website I came across a message that they were not accepting applications for the store card. I am not sure if Citi is going to pick up the store card. I did a search on here but did not find any info. This direct from the website:

As of April 1, 2023, we are no longer accepting applications for the Overstock Store Credit Card from Comenity Capital Bank as we introduce a new card program. If you are a current cardholder, you can continue to use your Overstock Store Credit Card through July 17 and will receive additional information about the change in the coming months.

Good question. I haven't received any information regarding account. I currently have a $22,000 (shopping cart ala 2014) retail card with them that has only existed as padding for many years and just took a peak to see if I prequalified (in case they convert my card). This one was on my chopping block but I may wait until July to see what becomes of it. I should probablyt throw some spend on it just to make sure it stays active until then.

Interesting, thanks! I've also tried the pre-qualification for the MC and got pre-qualified but I'm not looking to add another card just yet. Overstock no longer carries what I'm looking for, and it's only a matter of time before they close this card since it's not getting used. A conversion would be great but I'm not holding my breath.

I've got a letter coming in the mail from Comenity today. I can just make out the date July 17th in the envelope window via informed delivery, so this could be my closure notice. 😕

@Adkins I received the same letter. Basically, they were letting me know that they are planning to end the Overstore Store Credit Card program, and all accounts will be closed on or after July 18th.

I got a letter from Comenity yesterday that they are discontinuing the card as of July 17. I called and closed it yesterday so that it will report as closed by me, but I could have left it, it just annoyed me because I got a letter from them last week saying I needed to buy something or they would close my card for non-use lol. You have to love Comenity.... I just kept mine for age, so no loss.

I never received a letter stating use it or lose it. They just one day closed it no explanation, I mean I didn't use it for over a year so it wasn't a shocker..

Just got a letter in the mail today stating they will be closing all overstock store card accounts effective July 17th,2023. If there is a balance remaining, terms will remain until paid off. You can make purchases until the close date.

Yup. I was so hoping some of them might get converted. 😒 Oh, well!

Since I have not received my letter, I decided to call Overstock's offshore Customer Care Specialists and inquire. I was told they are closing all store card accounts, they are not transferring any to Citi. There will be no store card only the Citi Overstock Mastercard. That will be a loss of a $5500 tradeline. I'm sure there are a lot more people that have much higher credit limits. At least my HSN card got transferred from Comenity to Synchrony a few years ago. After I lose Overstock I will be down to one 1 Comenity card, Buckle and who knows how long that will last.
