AmEx: View Lending Options

A question for the AmEx gurus here…

My BCE passed the six month mark earlier this month and the "Check Spending Power" button has disappeared and was replaced with a "View Lending Options" button on the home page.

What is the purpose of the new button? Is there any significance to the check spending power button disappearing?

check spending power should still be in account services, is it not?

Thank you for the reply. Yes, it may indeed be a temporary IT glitch; every other site has them

Amd yes, account services still shows the button.

I was mostly curious if there was any significance to having it removed from the box with my credit limit… but I'm inclined to attribute it to your suggestion of an IT glitch. We'll see if it comes back.

Wondering if you ever figured out what this does. It's shown up on my Amex Marriott Brilliant for a while now, but I'm too afraid to click it in case it's counted as a "ding" against you by Amex for internal purposes like the Check Spending button.

It's just advertising. Mine advertised personal loans, the mycredit guide, and certificates of deposit.

Possibly as echoed advertisement or personal loan. Recently mine is showing pre-approved for a personal loan that have no need for at a pretty good rate.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with @SouthJamaica that it is just advertising. It hasn't gone away, and to add more weight to the conclusion, I occasionally recieve a pop-up upon login pushing the personal loan. The pop-up also displays a surprising low APR.

Perhaps just wait a bit until you receive the pop-up advertisement. Then you'll see your APR with no risk of an inquiry (unless, of course, you succumb)

@SeaProbe I think they are testing this out to compete with all of these online installment loan providers like "afterpay" "affirm" "bread pay" "klarna" etc etc. Kinda like that chase Flex Plan Pay thing.
