Tippyperez,

Welcome to the forum!

I burned Chase badly in my chapter 7 bankruptcy. I tried at the 61 month mark post discharge and after year 7 post bankruptcy, and was declined both times due to my bankruptcy. I even reconned both times and was told both times it was due to my bankruptcy. After my bankruptcy fell off all my CR's, I was approved for the Chase Amazon Visa. I discovered the preapproval on the Amazon website.

Since you already have a checking account with Chase, I'd keep it open and use it. I would check on Chase Journey site for a preapproval or offer, and the same thing on Amazon.

Just give it time. If Chase let me back in, they will let you back in too.

Guyatthebeach

9I filed for a chapter 7 with them a few years ago. I would love to get back into their credit card system and would like some advice on how i can start the process of getting back into it besides just waiting it out. I have heard that even waiting for the bankruptcy to drop off completely doesnt guarantee that chase will take you back because its logged into their system forever.

I currently have a checking account with them and was about to close it due to inactivity and the maintenance fee. Would leaving it open and even opening other accounts like a savings or business checking, etc. get me into their system faster?

Sometimes I see posts where a non used checking account can be a drawback in getting CLI's. That said I have not seen this with Chase. I have only one checking account. The only advantage to having that type of account you can go into the back if you have a problem with a credit card application etc.

If you do a search thru this group 'chase bk' I have yet to see anybody get back in with any bk let alone a bk with chase. Just move the money somewhere else. If this is the case where you wanted access to the travel partners that chase has locked up there are surprise travel hacks like you can use Amex mr points to buy swa

I stand corrected there are approvals showing in the approvals section doing a search for 'chase bk' so looks like if you wanted a chase Amazon card

I banked with them for 12 yrs plus. They financed my Explorer in 2021. I ask the CSR I've seen many times. Anything on the screen? She said no. Whats your opinion for the Amazon card and I didnt burn Chase. Save the HP. People with BK's dont get approved. Ok. Wells Fargo came out with the Early Payday and I left. Still my auto lender and thats it. Said sorry. No card. No accounts.

Just throwing my DPs in here. I burned chase in Ch 13 in 2015 for about 8k, they didn't get any payback because they failed to file their claim in time. I applied for the Amazon card 12/21 with the BK still reporting and approximately 8/24 I believe, I was approved for $3,500 instantly. About a year later asked for a CLI and they doubled my line after a recon. Last month I applied for CSP and was initially denied, called recon same day still denied, called a second time about 2 weeks later and was approved for $18.4k which isn't my largest CL but is my largest out of the gate approval post rebuild. It seems like the Amazon card has some decently lienient rules for initial approval, but the rest are a little tougher but not impossible if you're willing to do a little talking to the recon folks.

Some customers do benefit from an internal relationship; however, I think other factors may be more important: strong credit profile post BK rebuild along with higher FICOs, lower DTI, and below 5/24 when applying.
