What cards do you think are most likely to get nerfed in the coming few years?

I might have asked this last year; I definitely asked about Affinity (prophetically as it turns out, join my cult and h/t to @PoggersSlayer). I ask (maybe) again:

What cards do you think are most likely to get nerfed in the coming few years?

Impossible to really predict these things, I admit.

Of course this question is partially motivated by self-interest, wondering whether any of the cards on my radar could be on the chopping block. (And if they might get nerfed, it's hard to know whether the legacy holders will keep the old benefits or not.) The cards on my radar are SYW, Union Plus, and CCR, so selfishly I'd be interested to hear your thoughts there, especially on SYW.

Keep in mind that while the CCR rewards are nice with Preferred Rewards, BofA pays virtually nothing in interest on cash, and not everyone uses BofA primarily/exclusively for securities.

If you want a card, I say go for it. Look at how many people are still enjoying AOD unlimited 3% CB everything, and how many people wish they grabbed it while they could have.

@ptatohedgood point, I think that's what's gonna happen. But in that example, I would have applied for AOD ASAP if I thought it was going away. I was planning to go for SYW next year, but I might get nervous and do it this year. FOMO etc

Lol. I hope you enjoy it like I do. Although I didn't receive the Gas/Groc/Rest (GGR) offer this Q3.

As for the SYW card's benefits getting nerfed, it's possible but I don't see it being any time soon. Of course no one knows but I think it's here for a while. They are still constantly sending out various offers to cardholders (just take a look at the Sears card FlyerTalk thread almost 10 years old, 65 pages long, almost a thousand posts, 173k views, and still going strong). SYW itself is always trying to come up with new ideas. Just today, they offered me a new browser plugin that will give you extra SYW points shopping at certain on-line retailers, including those you already shop at. I haven't tried it yet. raise is a pretty popular site and SYW is partnered with raise and advertises the card. I could be wrong but I think the card in its current form, more or less, will be here for a few years and probably beyond.

I have no idea if SYW will get nerfed, but I found it very annoying and closed it just a few months after opening it. It seems to me like a poorly run outfit, and I don't like getting my rewards in gift cards. But @ptatohed seems to be getting rich off of it, so maybe he will singlehandedly put them out of business.

I'm probably going to nerf the Kay Jewelers card and my FNBO Evergreen card at the end of the year since these cards don't ever get any use. Also I noticed that FNBO's website is either down or acting up when I try to log in to check the balance.

I'm keeping the SYW MC for the moment the credits are still worth it for my needs.

Most likely? I'm not sure.

Biggest probability of being nerfed if we do go into a recession? Probably BILT or the Venture X.

This assumes we're talking large banks and cards I hold. Smaller banks, it's a crap shoot.

I know the card I would like to see nerfed is the American Express platinum card. I wish they would get rid of the lifestyle coupons, bring the annual fee down to a normal range and maybe instead of all the credits make it more of a point earner.

@TyrannicalDunceryAs a IAFF Member for years. Union Plus has the IAFF card. I wont get it for 1.5% CB. Nor do I believe in what they support up north without getting political. Its really the same as a QS.

No, I think it's okay. I ran the link through a number of third party website verification sites, and they're not reporting any suspicious links or that the domain is on any blacklists. I also clicked through the warnings and viewed the site myself, to be sure that there wasn't some redirection from a firewall or something like that on my end, and it came up with the card described. The antivirus I'm using is highly rated and reputable (BitDefender), but they appear to be the only ones with a problem, so it's probably false positive.

Edit: Also, BitDefender has stopped flagging the site. So my guess is they corrected an error.

Anyway, back to your thread.
